@hajo, you're clearly mistaking what original means and You're putting too much value on the term "original" with the whole game, where as I'm clearly stating that "original" is something that someone made by them self.

No matter how similar someone made it, it's still their one and only original deck, no one in the world can recreate it without actually copying it.

Themes are a different matter, which are clearly different from a player's "originality".

Let's say, we have 2 different persons in closed rooms, these 2 persons doesn't know many decks and never followed any news about the game, basically their isolated fans of the game. Then we order them to make a deck with Exodia as it's theme. No matter how they make their deck, they must include exodia in it. All cards and information about card effects and combos are provided.
The result is, both of them made 2 different decks.
Question is
"Which one is original?"

Don't you have some pride in your own "creation". When was the last time you made your deck form scratch, without any sources.

Another analogy:
Was Frankenstein's monster not original just because he used other people's baody parts to create his ultimate "original" masterpiece?

Honestly the term "true creator" irks me so much.

The problem here is somehow you're thinking that a certain person who made a similar deck somehow gets inspiration/information from another people. Everyone is still the "true creator" of his or her own deck.

What if someone across the world who never followed any tournaments nor deck recipes, made the same deck himself/herself without any sources? would you still be able to say that "he's not the "true creator". This just means both of the "True Creator" and the other "True Creator" have the same line of thought.

and speaking of originality, if a guy made a deck by himself and for himself, that's still original to the person himself.

Say hello to my 6 year old deck. I pretty much use the same idealism here, "I want to win/lose with my own strategies". And in the process, I pretty much stop caring for the new cards even though they're awesome.

I advise you to just re-read the whole thing if you're unsure, because the anime and manga difference is significant.

You can accidentally skip parts of the manga that wasn't shown in the anime.
Just form the start, and skip a chapter if you think that you've already know the story.
