And I really like the fact that Yuri as protagonist is practically different than all the other Tales protagonist. One of my favorite tales protag.

You got the whole "concept" backwards, it was Sengoku Rance that was "spinning off" from the main gameplay of almost EVERY Rance game,that is RPG. The Other one is Kichikuou Rance, which is not Canon but still awesome.

Since I have a tight budget and there's no such thing as "rentals" in my country.
I usually do:
-Check reviews on gamesfaqs, Read the highest rated, the lowest rated, and one random middle rated.
-try to find video reviews.
and then make a decision based on that.

Lol, rather than my patience "run dry", it's just useless. He'll complain about "noob spams", "cheap attacks", we then remind him that's a legit strategy and is easy to punish if you know what you're doing. but then he'll just say "easier said than done" and in a day or 2 he'll complain again about the same thing, but with a different character or another game. lol
