Definitely got the signed physical ordered, I really appreciate these simul-pubs. Thanks guys.

While I love me some monster girls, there are so many more that fall under "Other" that I will to go with that.

I've noticed that the text box for the support ticket page does not scroll words as you type more lines. Instead, the sentences continue outside the box and even underneath the '[ ] I'm Not a Robot' and 'Send Support Ticket' buttons.

What's more, F4U has written a new afterword exclusively for our release, directly addressing all of their Western fans. When possible, our goal going forward is to have all authors write something new for you, starting with those published by Wanimagazine (who publish all of our current magazines in Japan).
...

Finally, here's a sneak peek of the new afterword illustration!

It's these kinds of things that make me glad I've thrown all my money at you become a subscriber/collector. With all the outreach from authors such as like leaving personal greetings in the library comment sections and illustrations (like the MEGA MILK exclusive download page) I can't wait to see what else is on the horizon.

Overall, I like the beta design with some caveats.

Likes:
  • I like how the navigation bar is one clean consistent line across the top and doesn't take too much space. It makes for easy browsing.

  • The overall look is cleaner and helps make the content more noticable.

  • The "In Library" and "Purchase" tabs is something quite a few of us ask for rather than just "Books". It's something quite a few of us asked for.

  • The repution buttons are bigger so there's a smaller likelihood of downvoting someone I mean to upvote (or vice versa).

Caveats:
  • The forums has too much "white space" between the "topics" and "last posts". Alternating color contrasts between each forum topic can alleviate this.

  • The front page looks nice but can get pretty barren below the fold with just the new releases there. Placing some "news" or "announcements" in encapsulation somewhere can help fill the void, catch some attention for content you might want to push and organize the page a little more. It doesn't have to be detailed and can link to official forum posts for complete information.

Take for example, the "Today we are proud to officially release.. Tiny Boobs Giant Tits History! MEGA MILK IS BACK!" banner. It's so small I almost missed it. You can expand that just a little by adding an "announcement" bar to the left or right with maybe an image to catch the eye. People who recognize Mega Milk are more likely to get excited and click the link if they can see what's being announced. And who knows? This might help drive more purchases by attracting more attention that way, metrics will tell.

  • I think I've already found a bug while testesting the upvote/downvote system. I upvoted Jacob's top post and then downvoted to see if I can reverse the decision. I tried adding back my upvote only to have it downvote again.

  • In the end it went from +4 (starting) -> +5 (my upvote) -> +4 (my "takeback" test downvote) -> +3 (my trying to "add back" an upvote) It looks like pressing the upvote twice will also "take back" the vote, but the system didn't recognize that I have already already done that when I pressed downvote.

Suggestions:
  • In so far as surfacing previous conent, you can place a "recommended" box in the whitespace beside newer releaes that pushes older content that shares the same on tags/authors you've already read.

  • Showing us that we can search multiple tabs can be simple. What if I search "harem" in the bar, below the first suggestion (harem) there can also be the suggsted list such as (harem vanilla dark skin etc..). This will subtly suggest "hey, multiple tags!" and users will naturally search their desired tags together.

  • As you've said, you want FAKKU to look like more than just a scanlation site. Look at any other publisher's site and what do you see? Not just new releases but some form of interactive content such as announcements/recommendations/polls. The more you interact with users, the more professional it feels. Don't just throw content at users on the front page, engage with us on content.

For the most part, I like it. There are obvious signs that you've taken some criticism to heart and implemented some solutions. Some are great, others may need a bit more attention. Anyway, this is just my five minute review with the beta, I might make some follow up posts as time goes on but I appreciate the effort to make the site faster and user-friendly.

Awesome news, thanks Jacob. And please photoshop copies of Ecchi Sketch books in the Professor hands.

EDIT: Bless you, Romana. ;)

Not everyone can stay up and fight tooth and nail to snag a copy for various reasons.

Doujinshi collectibility can come from being limited, which are often times because they are by their very nature self published by small groups or individuals. But for companies like FAKKU or SHIKIMAYA that can license, translate and distribute uncensored versions, being limited doesn't always have to be case.

Ultimately, publishers are businesses too and I don't think it's unreasonable to say there can't be room for both limited and widely (but still high quality) editions. If past experience from previous releases demonstrates anything, it's that there's plenty of market demand so why not?

I'd love to be able to support the artists like and have something tangible to show for it, limited or not.

Only got the Mother chapter, but I like the fact that the oversize envelope protects the corners, it came in flawlessly.

An English print is in the works.
Just for that I wouldn't mind buying it twice. Thanks for this release!

A physical print is planned, but will be a con exclusive first. Once we work out the logistics, it will be available for online purchases.

Count me in as part of that. ;)

I know! Of all the books announced, I am most excited for this one. Fakku needs to have better comunication with its audience. There are too many things falling by the wayside with no clear update of where they are on the priority list. Second edition of Puni Kano? Offline client? I get it, you are a small team with lots of things in the works, but the least you owe to your audience is to let them know where things they are excited about stand.

I agree with ever single thing you wrote.

I like surprises as much as the next guy, but I don't wanna be surprised ever single time a new book goes on sale on FAKKU.

I really am hoping now that with one year under their belt as a legitimate publisher they will be able to provide more details, especially around which books are going on sale and when they will be going on sale.

In another thread (funny, it was also by you) it was stated that the book pre-order incentives are, those who place orders fast get a higher priority in the shipping queue. I want my books to ship fast I wanna be early in the queue, but right now I basically have the camp the FAKKU store page waiting for a new book to go up.

I really hope by the end of Q1 they have a very specific time period for each book they already have announced, and will continue to give specific release periods for all books that are announced going forward.

As a legitimate publisher, and business I would not expect any less

I've always thought a newsletter was a great way for FAKKU to keep in touch with their audience. I'd sign up in a heartbeat.

we do not plan to reprint the set at this time (though we may in the future).

Can I vote for the future reprint? That would be awesome. I picked up the digital and it just made me want a physical all the more. Can I vote with my wallet somehow?

You could try putting up a poll. The feedback could convince Jacob that its well worth the effort to make reprints available.

I did send a ticket, not immediately but a couple days after and received the automated receipt e-mail.

Oh, did you get a reply yet then? Hmm, maybe support is just really swamped and behind from the holidays? Still weird I did not get the auto-reply email, though. Now I'm unsure if my ticket was received or not. All I know is the site bugs that night sure caused some havoc.

Whatever the case, both print copies for me now have two different tracking numbers, so it looks like they did not see my ticket, if it was registered all right, and were not able to combine the shipment for me despite the delay. Though I hope they can at least refund me the priority mail shipping cost for my trouble with the bugs. I also hope they can identify what caused the issues and get them fixed so things are more stable later.

If I remember correctly the store front said they'd be out on holiday until January 2nd, which was when I sent in my ticket. Maybe it did got lost but no, I didn't get a reply.

Until Jacob or Ben posts here or maybe when you get a reply from your second ticket, we won't know for sure.

[quote="エロカワ"]Hey Jacob,

*snip*

[quote="ntfakku"]I already got a notification for Daughter chapter, which was a bit odd since I sent a support ticket asking for both books to be combined as you suggested. At least I know that care is being taken for the shipping and I'm glad to wait a bit longer.

If you used the website support page, did you get a "Message Received" email when you sent in your ticket back then? If not, I'm guessing FAKKU's system was down then and did not register either of our tickets back then.

They are in the process of shipping out now! We were waiting on some more protective shipping materials for doujins, if you didn't already receive a shipping notification you'll get it early next week.

Sluts, Kogals, and whatever by Gujira.

Besides the utterly hilarious title its genre is right up my alley.

It goes nicely with Kiyoshiro Inoue's Service Committee and Key's After School Vanilla which is a sweet and polar opposite and makes for some nice balancing.

Really, all the other books are right up but kogals just makes it for me.

Christmas is over, you know- but I'll take it.

I wonder if the omnibus will be a sleeve with a copy of each book or would it be one combined book? Either way, I'm down.

The signed copies sold out instantly, you were all really fast! Sorry to those of you who missed it, we plan to do more things like this in the future but supplies were limited this time.

Hey Jacob,

First off, thanks a lot for doing this and working with Shikimaya to offer this sale. It was pretty awesome of you guys to do that. That said, given the glitches with the shipping options in the store for the daughter chapter, and the delay in posting the daughter chapter until after the mother chapter had sold out physically signed, is there any way you could combine shipping costs for those of us who made two orders to get one of each and were hoping for combined shipping? I know those located outside the US would especially appreciate it at least.

Absolutely, no problem at all. Just send an email to support@fakku.net with all that info and we'll take care of you there.

Are FAKKU's shipping prices flat rate shipping within the continental US?

I already sent a ticket to support ticket to combine shipping but didn't ask to refund the daughter chapter shipping since it would make up the price difference.

I never saw the signed daughter chapter unlock, just the regular physical. I'll take it for sure, though I was hoping to get the signed.

The physical version of the daughter chapter is ONLY available signed.

That's good to hear, somehow I thought there were unsigned copies available too.
