Biggest issue with lots of tags is as you said, it's time consuming, but it also gets a bit convoluted, and then you have to ask are half of them necessary, as half the time the tag is applied to something that's only there for one page, which to a lot of people is a major turn off. That's rules that you have to create before hand. Is one page enough to get a tag or maybe two? It should be a hard limit for every tag.

I think KonoSuba started going down around mid way through S1. This is still a worthwhile sequel but I don't think it has been able to top first half of S1 yet, which is a shame.

Collection of shorts from Kaiji Kawaguchi. Highly recommended. Especially the last story.

I think the tagging system that e-hentai has is excellent.
They use a very large quantity of different tags and they also come with descriptions that are helpful. The issue would, of course, be to remember all these tags and for everything to be correctly tagged. And that's a very time consuming endeavor. E-hentai mostly forgoes this problem by letting everyone be able to tag a work and rewarding correct usage of tags with capital, that can then be used to use various features that the site has.
I have to admit that the last bit of that is a little weird. And I'm not sure how Fakku could incentivize people to not abuse the system.
Anyway going off topic, I think that separating genders is a good thing. A work could be tagged bisexual and I have no idea if it's a girl licking pussy or a dude sucking dick. As a straight male, I find this very important to distinguish. Don't ask what doujin the images are from, I just picked one a random that had a lot of tags.
