Where did your knowledge of this 400W PSU come from? As far as I know, large name computer manufacturers put in a power supply to -just- cover the needs of the computer. Which, incidentally, also plays against your call for a quality PSU, because they are often not.

Sending an IP renewal request will do very little if your ISP has locked in your IP. If you already talked to MegaUpload, then you should talk to your ISP. Aside from that, there is very little you can do on your end.

May I remind all of the dangers of an inexperienced hand modifying a computer for the first time? It's much better to learn the what-goes-where by building a computer from the ground up. Additionally, Flaser is *essentially* telling you to buy a new computer, sans case, because your PSU will likely provide insufficient power for your new parts.

Any good recovery software can go through and find these files. Bit of a nuance here: Any good recovery software should be able to recover following a full format, or a overwrite that didn't include many passes. In this case, it shouldn't be called a recovery software if it cannot recover from a quick format. This is, of course, assuming that there is nothing else wrong.

I don't understand why you would come back to ask for more help if you didn't follow all the suggestions given.

As for a program that displays your hardware information, Windows does that to an extent. If you want something that covers it all, look into Speccy.

The original purpose of this thread was completed; need we continue it any longer? It was completed at the time of creation; the title is indicative of this. However, someone will inevitably find a way to continue it.

That sounds like incredibly bad taste. However, what's to stop you from taking an image of breasts that you are fond of and resizing it to the desired dimensions?

1.) Loud sounds emanating form a computer can only be the result of moving parts. In a laptop, this means fans, hard drive, or disc reader.
2.) If there is little or no dust in the fan area, air-dusting will have little to no effect.
3.) Lubing the bearings or replacing the fan is the surefire way to solve the sound issue, if the source of the problem is the fan. However, unless you are confident of your abilities, I would not recommend trying this on your own.
4.) For a laptop 3 years old and presumably in less than good condition, a solid whack or two with your hand to the fan area should solve the sound problem for a slight duration. This is by no means a permanent solution to the issue, but neither should keeping your old laptop. Laptops are not made to last.
