Yes. What's the problem? It is belief, after all. That's the nature of faith -- once proof one way or another is given and irrefutable, it is no longer simply belief, but fact. This in no way means that I am saying Flying Spaghetti Monster/Santa Claus/Unicorn is real because you believe it is, but if you _really_ believe that the FSM is real, there is really no way for me to prove otherwise, is there?
God cannot be proven or disproven. Therefore, the _belief_ on his existence is as valid as the _belief_ in his non-existence. However, since _all_ atheists think that they are smarter than deists purely on the basis on this belief, they are guilty of intellectual hypocrisy. Its like saying black people are inferior to white white people, failing to give proof (because, you know, they can't), then labelling everyone thinking otherwise as stupid. While deists themselves are also guilty of thinking themselves superior, not every deist is that way.
tl;dr -- there are no humble atheists, and all of them think they're smarter than anyone who believes in God... even when they aren't
Personally, I believe in God. For the longest time, I was agnostic, but as I grew older I found myself praying more and more. Most of the time I think he's an ass with a perverted sense of humor, though.
As for those who don't believe in God, here's Pascal for you:
You don't believe in God but he exists -- you're so fucked in the afterlife
You don't believe in God and he doesn't exist -- no problem
You believe in God and he doesn't exist -- you look like a fool, but otherwise no problem
You believe in God and he exists -- jackpot!
From a gambling viewpoint, there is no payoff from _not_ believing in God. There are, of course, numerous things wrong with this, but its simple enough to get the point across.

Professional? nah. Compared to most Poser artists, I'm pretty much mediocre.

A rather craptacular attempt at Mikuru.

I'd like some input on this pic. If it can be recognized for who it is supposed to be, then I'm heading in the right direction (wrong collar and tie, though).

And everyone here gets the "Over 9000" joke right? I hate to have to ask this but I want to make sure that you're hating on fatman for using the joke in a crappy setting rather than thinking he's just being a stupid douche.
C'mon, it isn't a crappy setting! I think its perfect! :D

I wish that shit just went like Dune and personal shields just completely invalidated guns for warfare and everyone went back to swords. In Dune, personal shields did _not_ invalidate guns. In fact, personal shields aren't used in war, because if a personal shield got hit with a laser gun... boom. Nuclear explosion.
Personal shields are used in hand-to-hand duels only.
The scarf is originally by mao_dante. Now that I've seen it, hopefully I'll be able to make my own in the future.

Filipino TV sucks big time. However, its links like these (found on dattebayo, under the heading "information on the Philippines") that are raising ire.

somebody took offense, not knowing their own place...
i bet those who took offense are pretty much ashamed of their own TV...
You mean filipinos who took offense after that factual and impartial document don't know their place? Or that the Filipinos who took offense should be ashamed of their own TV? You are, of course, right, my fuhrer. How dare do these brown monkeys take offense! The gas chambers and concentration camps have already been prepped and awaiting your instructions!

I'll be busy this weekend so here's something to (cough) titillate in the meantime.
Ragnarok ninja, 25% done.

I believe in life on other planets (not necessarily on our own, though).
I just don't believe they go around doing anal probes.

In truth, I saw the series first in broadcast order (I didn't know anything about the series, so I didn't know it was broadcasted that way). Me and my sister found it disappointing, especially since some early episodes spoiled the later ones.
It was like Homer Simpson going "Wow, who knew Darth Vader was Luke's father!" while waiting in line for the premier showing of Empire Strikes Back.
Then I read the books, and watched the series again, this time chronologically. I vastly enjoyed it more, since that was how the original writer meant it (more or less, the novels themselves jump in time a lot, but at least you won't see a story being cut by another story mid-way, as broadcast order does). I'm not even sure how they're going to explain away season 2 (since the broacast order in season 1 implies that Kyon and Haruhi have stepped up their relationship), when its Mikuru he's pining for even up to novel #9 (and presumably season 3).

Broadcast order is ridiculous. The light novels were not arranged in that order (in other words, the broadcast order was not how the writer meant them to be in). The chronological order is closer to the order of the novels (in other words, its closer to how it was meant to be seen).
Watching it in broadcast order completely ruins the "revelation" that was the hallmark of the first light novel. That is, Kyon was slowly introduced to the idea of Haruhi being supernatural, something finally accepted in that episode where they kiss (which was in the end of the first book and early in the school year). After that event, nearly all Kyon's actions/decisions are dictated by that knowledge. Broadcast order fucks this up completely, and I can't help but feel that this is like hollywood fucking up a novel that gets turned into a movie because the producer/director thinks he knows more than the writer does. They probably thought having Kyon kiss Haruhi would make a final great scene to the first season. Cinematically it probably does, but this implies that Kyon's romantic feelings for haruhi were building up through the series -- when the exact opposite was what was happening (his feelings were building up for Mikuru; midway through the year during the shooting for episode 0 Kyon nearly hit Haruhi and had to be restrained by Koisumi). Also, Haruhi is supposed to be happier as the series progresses -- the episode where they kiss is supposed to start the change in Haruhi from melancholic (as seen in episode 1) to a genki girl (as supposed to be seen in the episodes after).
tl;dr -- broadcast order is not the order the story is supposed to unfold.
