Moved over to GOT comics and is drawing for their Comic ExE magazine. The good thing is that Fakku has some type of publishing deal with GOT comics, so maybe they will publishes his new book that got released an couple of months ago.

Okay. I really like his art so that's why I asked.
WitnessX Starship Captain
Is he still drawing for Comic X-Eros, or is he focusing on doujinshi for the time being? I ask because there hasn't been anything from him as far as original works for a while, but he's released a few KanColle doujinshi over the last several months.
WitnessX Starship Captain
Oh fuck yes!
WitnessX Starship Captain
Bogan English or Klingon.
WitnessX Starship Captain
Oh shit, Saemon? I love his Touhou and KanColle stuff!

I've been on the internet too long, I needed to Google Shitsurakuten to make sure it wasn't, you know...
WitnessX Starship Captain
I spent it at home.

Why did you remove scanlations and unlicensed content?

A lot of people think hentai is free just because it's always been free. Given our history at FAKKU we've contributed to that misconception, and now it's time to fix it. Everything you've been reading on the Internet has been a scan of an actual book from Japan, something Japanese authorities are increasingly clamping down on. Piracy is not a sustainable business model, but more importantly, piracy has never been my goal with FAKKU.

Over the past year we have officially published over 200 individual artists. After going to Japan and meeting with artists whom we've published and have had their scanlations appear on FAKKU, I have made the decision to support them as much as I possibly can. It's heartbreaking to talk with an artist and have them explain that when they Google their name they don't see their website, or their Twitter, or any way to actually support them. All they see are pirated scans of their work that were uploaded somewhere without their permission.

This isn't a problem unique to hentai, it's an issue with the anime and manga industry at large and the reason why so many Japanese companies, publishers, and artists, blindly turn their back on their overseas fans thinking we're all pirates. Because for so many years that's all we've been to them, pirates. My goal with FAKKU is to change their perception of us and removing scanlations (and giving our users a way to support their favorite artists) is the next step.

As a result of this change you'll see more content coming to FAKKU from new artists and new publishers. We will be publishing all different kinds of genres, including things you don't normally see on FAKKU. I want to bring back all of the content that has been removed, but now legally and in collaboration with the artists that created it instead of via pirated scans. Right now we simulpublish two of the largest hentai magazines in Japan, Comic Kairakuten and Comic X-Eros, which together account for almost 1,000 pages of new content each month. The fact that we have been successfully doing this for six months is incredible, it's the equivalent of publishing two entire issues of Shonen Jump every single month.

We plan to add free content for users that cannot afford a subscription, but it's going to take some time. We are still legally figuring out how exactly to do this and how to do it in a way that's smart alongside our subscriptions. If you have ideas post them in this thread, I'll be reading every single reply.

Final Thoughts

At this point whether we succeed or fail is entirely up to you, and we need your support now more than ever. If you can't afford a subscription, help spread our message and explain to people why we made this decision and why the artists deserve support. Get out there and tell people. Think of all the faps these artists have given us over the years, now we finally have the opportunity to give back to them in a meaningful way.

I hope you choose to stick around with FAKKU. If not, it's been an incredible 10 years and I want to thank all of you for being a part of it.

My question is, where does doujinshi fit into the piracy you spoke of? Most if not all doujinshi, ero or not, are unlicensed, so I don't see how they could be brought back.

Vanilla is my preference, but last time I checked, we DID have a lot of it, so I went with something else.

What about the older tankoubons?

We're definitely keeping older titles in mind when picking what to localize. Hanafuda from 2002 and Shoujo Material from 2008 are two examples of older books that we've already released—first chapter of Shoujo Material comes out in a few hours, so close enough. A few weeks ago, we also picked up Mucchiri Sukebe (which came out in early 2014) alongside a brand new, unannounced title.

We can only do so much—currently around three books every two months—and I think our focus should be on offering a variety of new artists, and picking up new titles from popular artists we've published in the past (such as Bosshi and Kisaragi Gunma). However, if there's no new title coming out in the foreseeable future, we'll probably consider an older one, so it's more likely that we'll do an older book by Homunculus than, say, MEME50.

Ah, okay. That makes sense.

Casting my vote for Hajirai Break.

In a way it also works in our favor, because while we can't possibly go back and localize 20 years worth of content any time soon, this allows us to do a few chapters here and there from the vast library. Even if it's not an entire book, more Homunculus is something users have asked for, so I think this will at least please some.

Someone's probably working on it, but I've let Jacob know about it being buggy.

It seems to be working now, is anyone still having trouble?

Worked then doesn't works. Every few days it breaks.

Pretty much this. It worked the last time I was on here but that was a few hours ago. It also only works for like 3 characters in.

Been having this problem myself, not sure what's the cause however.

Good, so it wasn't just me.

Every time I try to type in something like a series name (e.g. Sword Art Online) or the name of a manga (e.g. Contact, which I wanted to read last night), nothing comes up, and the drop-down suggestion menu fails to appear.

Has anyone else been having this issue?
WitnessX Starship Captain
Medium and up. I'll make exceptions for characters I really like, though.

Hisasi is doing LN illustrations? When did this happen, and for which light novel(s)?

Oh thank Madden.

Also, now you have my full curiosity.

He's active in the way Hisasi is. He provides some artwork every now and then for the anniversary or whatever, a magazine cover but he hasn't been doing a chapter release in several months.

Even someone like Toroshio is still with Wani, but he hasn't done a regular work in ages. Him saying he's active is like "duh" but it doesn't mean you're gonna have a new story soon. The last time he was seen being active for Wani was six months ago, and it was a cover and a short story. He probably asked his contacts in Japan and they told him he is still with Wani, but that was obvious.

Aw, okay. That is a slight downer. I really like his stuff so I had been wondering.

Might be doing something else, not all hentai mangaka stay exclusively at doing porn.

Something else alright, but probably not manga-related. When Hisasi went non-h and started doing LN illustrations the news was all over the place.
I wouldn't be surprised if somebody hired him as a character designer for anime.
