I'm definitely in support of more visual novels, especially eroge but English translations have been.. slow. I mean if you think about it, as far as fan translation goes, only a tiny fraction of of VNs have been completed. Meanwhile there are many thousands of manga and anime seen through. What I'm trying to say is that translators (especially fan translators) tend to work on things that they want to work on. And even then a lot of translation work isn't up to standard. Visual novels can be very lengthy so it's not trivial for someone to say they want to pick something up. I think you bring some fair points. Obviously if this service ever came to be they would be actual full time translation groups that get paid more than average.
Since it is a professional translation group with a few fan translators involved, it will keep the spirit of the Visual Novel (since the fans will be mostly doing the editing or quality assurance), the translation speed would be much faster than you expect normally. And the amount of translation groups the company has depends on how popular the service is. As it gets more popular there will be more staff.
If you didn't know Kickstarter makes A LOT of money. By being able to make 10% of total funding, the money will go back to the staff as well as further develop the service to benefit consumers and workers alike. The owner of the company is a fan of Visual Novels too, he knows there has to be a good wage and policy in the company for this to ever become something huge and official in the west. So this is quality first before money if that makes any sense, because as long as the company can sustain itself, the owner rather give more back to us consumers and workers.

It's just shrink wrap, it's delivered like that to us prior, we don't do it. It's to help protect the book in shipment and also it's nice to know that nobody's grubby hands was all over it before you :P

For content containing more questionable subjects like loli, can't you just put a sort of advertising post card over it that isn't as questionable? (like physically inside the shrink wrap both sides with different pictures) Like if I order from Playasia or Amiami they always come with these little post cards that have their number and customer support as well as a nice little thank you note with a picture of a random anime character is isn't offensive. That could potentially save a lot of people from customs.
Obviously some books are too big for a postcard to cover everything. So simply cover what you think they may be able to find offensive. For example this title doesn't really show anything offensive on the cover, so over the name of the book thus they cannot search it up? However hopefully your post card is big enough to completely cover up [NAMONASHI] NTR².
Also a question about Hanafuda and shipping. If I pay for the digital now and want the physical later, but due to shipping I try to bundle it with other release you do at the same time. Do you I pay that extra 10 dollars somehow while having all your other preorders in the cart to make them ship together? Even if I already paid for the digital edition separately? Or will they be unable to ship together if ordered together.
We really don't have any control at all what customs do. If they decide to rip open your package to inspect it to make sure you're not breaking any laws then that's their decision (depending on the country, right) to do that. We're not trying to deceive customs with shrink wrap, we're trying to make sure it arrives in good quality to your mailbox. Having a post card over something that is loli material doesn't really do you any favors, if customs would decide to inspect your package and it contains something you know you're legally not supposed to have, the post card isn't going to help you in the end.
As far as upgrading to print if that becomes possible for Hanafuda, I would imagine Jacob will have an upgrade option that you can use at any time. So if you want to wait to bundle it with something else I would imagine that would be possible. However I'm not a coder, I just make the books look pretty, so I could be wrong.

How many people here know about Kickstarter? If so I'm sure you know they do not allow 18+ content. How many people here would be interested in a Visual Novel only kickstarter, that puts all Visual Novels available and legal in the western world up for funding, and they only kick off once they are backed completely, meaning you do not get charged until they are successfully funded, and at the same time there is no time limit to any Visual Novel funding period?

The whole process would actually be managed by a company with full time translators and relationship developers to get Japanese companies on board, and of course website designers.
This process would actually give Japanese companies a risk free way of promoting their Visual Novels over seas, since they are not charged for making a kickstarter, they only make money after the funding process is complete. And all funding cost is transparent with everyone.
The ideal situation is every single New and not too old visual novel will be available for funding whenever the information is available from the official companies making them (cost of licensing etc.)
Another ideal would be a visual novel engine built within the company that can fit any kind of Visual Novel into it for proper wide screen scaling and font. So the Japanese companies provide the assets, while the in house staff import it to the completely new engine that will be used for all games, thus there would be no worry of non compatibility with different versions of Windows or Mac.

Please oh please oh Fakku gods. Please consider licensing 三上ミカ's (mikami mika) work. Specially the "Oyasumi Sex" series which has 3 short books so far and a 4th one coming at C88. I believe it's completely original and such great work needs to be localized and uncensored *_*

Hi, I received the book today.
One thing I found that could be improved on for the physical books is the middle part of the pages are cut off due to the binding.
If you could add more space for the binding so the actual pictures and words are not cut off that would greatly improve the quality of the books.
Otherwise I love the book so far.
