Dog Days (Second Season Announced!)

Well, this was definitely better than the first episode. Episode two was full of fluid/fun action sequences, while keeping the exposition about the rules short and two the point. I also was glad that Shinku's flaws have started to emerge, (such as that he is obsessive and is rather stupid), which makes him to be a more likable hero, and not a Hercules/Superman clone. The introduction of Eclair was also very good, and I'm liking her a lot already. Her roguish fighting style seems to work well off of Shiku's bo staff, as was apparent with their fight against Leonmitchelli, (which was one of the highlights of episode 2).

I also really like Leonmitchelli, and even though she lost the fight, she got the last laugh in the end with Eclair's embarrassment. I definitely hope that we get more of that in the future.

And it's going to be interesting to see if they are going to try to get Shinku home next week, or if he really is stuck there for good.

Despite my negative first impressions, I've found this anime to have become endearing to me, and I actually enjoy watching it quite a bit now. Even if some scenarios are trite, and the show itself is somewhat childish, I've come to the realization that I actually do like watching it.

So a bit more background about the dog world “Flonyard,” which also clears up some a few lingering questions about wartime. Trapped in the other world, loli genius Ricotta (who seems to have a fetish for technology) powers up a high-powered antenna to magically get cell service for the hero so he can talk with people back home. Some bath time fanservice, and then all of a sudden our princess has been taken to another castle… >_>
