Old memories, Oldies and Childhood Anime.

Ahh yes the good old days. I remember watching Akira for the first time on Sci-Fi and was blown away, then Vampire Hunter D. After awhile I got into Sailor Moon, Dragonball (original, Z, and GT), Gundam (MSG, Wing, G Gundam, Seed, and Seed Destiny), Yu-Yu Hakusho, Ranma, and the list could go on.

I used to go BATSHIT insane if I had missed these shows afterschool:
Blue Submarine No. 6
Outlaw Star
Sailor Moon (Dark Circus Arc was my FAVORITE. Fisheye ftw)
Zoids (2 "seasons" of it then I quit 'cause it turned retarded and pointless to watch)
Earlier episodes of DBZ (before Cell's Games arc) and Dragon Ball
Mew Mew Power/Tokyo Mew Mew (Yes, the 4kids dub was shitty but I LIKED IT)
One Piece
Digimon
I literally had a rant about each of these shows with my friends after I'd watched the episodes.
Edit:
DAMMIT, I FORGOT TENCHI, AND KENSHIN.

Let me think...
Sailor Moon, Digimon, Tenchi, Gundam Wing, Outlaw Star, and Card Captor Sakura.
I have the funniest memories of my dad giving me shit over each and every one of those.
Oh, well. At least I still have the DVDs.

I used to love pokemon, and admittedly still would if their weren't 1 billion pokemon now. After 251, the pokemon rap just got to long ;)

Pokemon isn't really a childhood anime for me. I was a bit too old when it came out; all the stories you heard like kids stealing each other Pokemon cards would involve kids a good few years younger than me.
The first anime I watched didn't seem like anime to me. Stuff like Samurai Pizza Cats and Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds. Most of the earliest anime stuff I saw were things like Doomed Metropolis, Akira, GitS, Urotsukidoji and so on, all on the shelf at my local rental shop. I would've been around 11 or so then, at a guess. Later, when I was 15, I ended up watching Urotsukidoji with my parents; one of the most embarrassing moments of my life. For some reason, after the first tape finished, I got up and put the other one in. I think that maybe it was because it was less embarrassing to keep on watching it than it was to stop and have to be asked by my parents "... What the fuck was that?" I vividly remember the bit when that demon guy grabs Amanojaku's sister (Megumi?) and starts raping her with multiple cocks. She says "What do you want?" or something, and he replies "I just want to fuck you!" and then my mom tutted, a sound that carried much more emotion that a simple tut should be capable of. Horrible...
Around that time another friend started really getting into anime and we'd go halves on buying a £15 VHS with a couple of eps on - that was about $30 back then. I have no fucking idea where we got the money from, though I do remember actually shoplifting a copy of some guide to "erotic manga and anime". I still have it somewhere. At this point we'd really start actively watching anime, stuff like Lodoss War. One of the earliest anime shows I watched at that time was the original two El Hazard OVAs and even though I can see them as being somewhat formulaic in many of their elements, I still really love them.
The usual answers like Sailor Moon, Pokemon, Digimon or whatever really don't apply to me. They either totally didn't appeal to me or weren't really on TV.

for me childhood anime are ranma 1/2, la ballena josefina (it would be something like josephine the whale, but I don't know the actual english title), saint seiya, time bokan, mirai shonen konan, sailor moon, candy candy. Some of them are much older than me but they put those on TV and I really enjoyed them

Everyone beat me to it. I remember those old tv show. I really enjoy each one. Then I realize something when I was little. I didn't want to be human but a monster or alien. If I couldn't be that I guess I wanted to be human with powers. Now I am older my dream is to become a famous artist.

Dragonball Z and Zoids come to memory. Along with pokemon and Beyblade.
Yeah that sorta sums up my childhood like anime.
Also not sure if it was an anime but I never really looked into it, but I remember this show called Code lyoko iirc. Not sure though, so I thought I'd mention it here.
