I really like the Gundam storyline from 0079 onwards and SDF: Macross up to Macross F.
Was Tokyo Underground that old? I remember pretending to be sick in my elementary day just to watch the final ep
how bout the Voltes V family?? and Weiß Kreuz??

I have many fond memories of Toonami when it was still around. My favorite shows being Tenchi Muyo, Rurouni Kenshin, and DBZ of course. I even used to watch Sailormoon and CardCaptors.
I really miss those days.

i wasn't sure where this should go but personally its important to me. For most of us here on fakku there had to be an anime that appealed to us to start our interest in anime-hentai-doujin. For me it was stuff like Dragonball Z, Gundam Wing and pokemon (1st season)
There were to other anime but i can't remember them; one was about a boy transported into a world with monsters who when killed/died turn into stone disks with a phoinex on it, there was a wolf, a stone golem, a giant eye and a little one called mushi (i think). They where following a girl wiwh a stone to find the phoniex body.
The other anime was about people that when beat turned into cards and three main heros had magic stones that allowed them to transform; one was a kid that turned into a red bird-like armored warrior and another was a big cat like guy that turned into a lionman. When the three of them merged they became this ultra powerful guy. (Ah, memories)
ANYWAY i digress, i want to know what anime(or manga) inspired you guys.
Ow and it would be great if someone could tell me the names of the two above anime i described, i can remember the basic story but not the names :'(

Anime from my childhood?...Hmm..
It would have to be Dragonball Z, Hamtaro, I'm not 100% sure. It's been so long..Hamtaro inspired me to start drawing. Dragonball Z made me just go "YAYYY GO GOKU! GO BEAT FREEZA!" Good times xD

Yeah, there are quite a few good animes that have come out recently, I'm fine with that. But lately, I've been looking back at the anime that I watched when I was younger and I find myself wishing that we had more anime like the ones back then coming out now.
Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, .Hack//Sign, Rurouni Kenshin... I feel like while we take some steps forward with newer anime (Such as Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and Puella Magi Madoka Magica), sometimes I just wish we could have something like we did back then.
So what old anime does everyone else miss? I know there's a lot I didn't put myself, but I'd be here forever listing them all.

I feel that older anime wasn't THAT much better than we have now...but back then Japanese and American cultures were not as linked as they are now with the internet. The only thing that we Americans got over here was the "good stuff."
This is all going under the assumption anyone reading this is American.
Now there is a lot of really bad shows now. Every season I can only find maybe one or two series that I will keep up with all the way through. Nowadays I tend to be a season behind everyone else after I hear everyone's opinions on whats good and what isn't. (I agree Gurren Lagann and Madoka really stand out. I will have to add in Panty and Stocking to that list as well. Gainax has done some really neat stuff.)
There are a lot of oldies I really did enjoy back then. Personally my all time favorites would be Tenchi Muyo and Rurouni Kenshin. Tenchi was the beginning of my interest in ecchi/harem series, and Kenshin....well he was just badass what can I say?

im sorry but i realy hate oldies anime
i have three reasons
1. oldies anime had baaaaaad fight scenes comparing to new fight scenes i scream in the face of oldies
2. the picture and gaphics of oldies are not good. iknow that becuase of the time they couldnt make HD but once i watch somthing i cant go back
3. oldies are now rare and hard to find which make them more expencive to get so it pisses me off if yu have to pay more to get a shity oldy anime then a brand new anime.
the only oldy i can go back to watching is neon genisis evangelion becuase it is still one of my favs i agree that oldy anime had better stories that just made yu want to be in the show i feel like so few today have the same calibur of story telling as the oldy anime do but is it becuase of the new graphics that make the creators think that we will eat up everything created?
