Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru.

A fun little show with a cynical mc and a well-spoken bestgirl. Good thing to watch if you want to kill some time and is less interested in more serious things.

Rurouni Kenshin
The regular tv show is standard shounen for the most part, nothing noteworthy. It was decent.

But the 4 OVA episodes titled Trust & Betrayal were absolutely fantastic. A completely different attitude than the tv show. If the tv show is shounen then the OVA is not.

However I believe the OVA builds of the tv show. The principles and ideals Kenshin have are a product of his past, and he performs them in the tv show. Therefor to fully appreciate the weight of the events that changed him, you need to watch the tv show. But it's not required in order to understand what happens in the OVA.

Spoiler:

Eureka Seven
It was really boring and stuffed with filler. Never again.

Katanagatari, 9/10. Felt like the lovechild of Samurai Champloo and Bakemonogatari. Dialogue heavy with some kick ass sword fighting action. OST and visuals were stunning.

Been a while since I posted here.

Sora No Woto 6.5/10-

Decent military/slice of life/music anime with likeable characters, a relaxing musical score, but I disliked the final arc. It was rather slow on parts where I would either drift off sleeping or do something else to keep me awake.

Aim For the top: Gunbuster 7/10-

The hype of this one flew over my head. I can see where my favorite anime, Gurren Lagann got it's influence which is why I wanted to watch it. I can also see how this anime shaped Gainax to what it has been for about a decade and a half.

The story doesn't come to a head until the final 2-3 eps. Even still this didn't do much for my hype or 'datfeel' emotions. The only part where I felt sad was The letter from Noriko's friend to Noriko herself in the final episode

I've heard from a few the contrary. There will be a day when I find out for myself.

Diebuster is a bit sillier in tone but it benefits out of it by being more enjoyable. Gunbuster is really serious in comparison. Also Diebuster is really pretty, that is not to say Gunbuster doesn't look good.

The silliness you're refering to makes me a bit wary. I'll try not to judge a book by it's cover.

Im a sucker for old school animation and I've seen a few screenshots from Diebuster. I shall see how it holds up.

Finally finished Nurarihyon no Mago

Pros: Overall the main character Riku became a better and stronger character as the anime progressed.
The number of demons never diluted the main story.
No overly power ups for characters.

Cons: Felt Riku's human side was pointless

8/10 hoping for season 3

Mardock Scramble 8.5/10- A psychological cyberpunk with trippy visuals, creative score, and good characters. Balot a cute. I'm still befuddled at the egg theme.

Psycho-Pass: The Movie - 7/10

I was pretty excited about watching the movie, but in the end I fell into the trap of having high expectations.

The amount of engrish was off of the charts. It would quite honestly be far better to watch the dubbed version. While the movie itself was quite well produced, in terms of visuals, the story was honestly quite disappointing. Of course, after watching two seasons of the series it is more than likely that a fan could (should) notice the direction of the series.

Open at your own discretion.

Spoiler:
The trailer made me think of a rebellion against Sybil, but it turned out to be a meager reunion for Akane and Kougami. That is quite entirely what the entire movie is -- a reunion.

The pacing was poor and the climax was to bluntly put it, shit. Rather insulting actually for a series of Psycho-Pass' stature. There was no actual character development and the antagonist was practically added in at the last second. He was an extremely poor excuse of a final adversary and the Chairman was an obvious Sybil doppelganger from the very beginning. The staff was also just lazy with the ED. They only recycled the first ED, "Namae no nai Kaibutsu." While it is a great song it did not fit the ending for the movie at all. Nowhere even close.

Hopefully the next season is the one that ties the knot.

TL;DR; Hover for simple spoilers/review:
Great visuals and well-produced, shitty pacing, god-awful engrish, and the PP series is officially being milked and I'm disappointed as fuck that this movie wasn't the one to end the series.

Should you watch it? Yes. Is it amazing? No.

Psycho-Pass: The Movie

I liked it. Had a lot of interesting concepts. Also whathisface was a lot like Big Boss, just like /a/ said. CGI looked really good during the tank scenes but looks ech in the rest.

True, but I can appreciate that they are trying to make the world more believable. It would be interesting if English wasn't the lingua franca, though.

The movie was much better than the second season. Second season dragged out for too long and wasn't very interesting. This new Metal Gear Solid take on it was much more interesting. But they could have taken it much further (and made it longer).

Expelled from Paradise

An awesome movie that at first looks like it's going to be about Real vs. Virtual and instead turns out to be about Happiness vs. Freedom. Told through likeable characters that work of each other in ways that are both funny and interesting, making for quite a sweet story. The 3D animation might leave something to be desired for a lot of people though. It didn't bother me but I'm more forgiving of 3D anime because I think the industry needs more of it. So it's nice to have such a great movie showcase it even though it's not going to change the minds of anyone who doesn't like it.

But regardless of how you feel about the animation it's still a great movie that leaves you with a good feeling. Recommended!

Ping Pong the animation, 10 out of fucking 10.

I knew I'd love it when I got into it seeing as it was directed by the guy who did tatami galaxy, and I was not let down. The character development was godly, and the emotional impact that it gives off is amazing. If you turned it down for its offbeat animation style, then you're really missing out on something special here.

Parasyte, 10/10. I don't really like giving 10/10 usually when i rate things in my mind, but this one REALLY was a great show. A splendid mix of action and horror, mixed with a deep psychological message and questioning that fills you to the brim with new thoughts.

The pace was brilliantly managed, and there aren't any parts where you look back and think: What the hell even happened? (example, middle of Steins Gate). The length of the show was also good at 24 episodes, not too short (the usual problem with, say, 13 episode animes like Angel Beats), and an EXCELLENT ending that both wraps things up yet leaves room for your mind to continue creating the possible future story.

The story itself was very original, or at least I've never seen anything with the premise this one presents. The soundtrack is quite thrilling, and sets the mood incredibly well for different scenes. The character development is absolutely stellar, on par with the development I've seen from such works as Spice and Wolf and Kanon. This was a major focus of the show, and they did very well.

As for the particular focuses of the psychological aspect, it really explored the elements of altruism, love, logic, and what it means to be human, or what it should be. I immediately went and started exploring the realms of these subjects, and was fascinated by the concepts introduced to me by Parasyte.

Also it was so good I finished it in under 19 hours (counting sleep and college classes). Just saying.

Kaiba, 10/10, I seem to have a thing for Yuasa Masaaki. Visually the show was closer to a Dr.Sues novel then to anime, but the over all tone was rather heavy and depressing. It's a show I feel most people will avoid because of the childish visuals, but if you want something different, then anything by Yuasa is worth a go.

GATE, 7/10. Enjoyed than I though I would, and I feel like any military junkie would go love it. Pretty cliche in a lot of ways, but it's still ok over all.

Rokka no yuusha, 7/10. Similar to the last one, something I picked up on a whim from the now airing list, and liked more than I thought I would. Slow as hell, with a ton of dialogue, which is how I tend to like this kind of show. Reveal at the end wasn't even remotely surprising, but it was a fun ride.

out of 10 (10/10)

If someone offered me candy that looked like this and said that, I'd think they'd be offering me drugs.

Spoiler:
The new girls were wonderful, everything else was fun and enjoyable. You can definitely see Trigger's style of choppy animation (is this a budget thing or just the style they've decided to run with). It felt like watching what would happen if Trigger made a Disney movie.

Expelled from Paradise (7/10)

Spoiler:
Standard post-apocalyptic 'what-if' story containing computerized humanity. Reminds me of the 'Brain Scratch' episode of Cowboy Bebop (go figure Steven Blum dubs a character in this one too) when there was a suicide cult mentioning you can become digital and live on forever. Characters are pretty standard and the plot was ok. The common question of is becoming an 'evolved form' of humanity really a good idea.

Shimoneta (3/10)

UGH, I'm going in on this one. For the record I dropped it at episode 5 because I couldn't take it anymore. This might be the worst anime I've watched this year.

Spoiler:
As a disclaimer, I do not dislike raunchy/crass comedy. It just has to be done right...which Shimoneta fails to do and far much worse

I've seen comedy anime which made me apathetic, but it's rare to see an anime that's comedy that is SO bad that it actually made me pissed. What's worse is that it repeats the same shit over and over. No joke, this is the worst comedy anime I've ever witnessed.

There are plotholes out the ass too. How come she didn't use her immunity when she bum rushed the porn artist's estate like at the train station? Who would believe that she was raped by the PMs if there were all those witnesses? How come there are no security cameras because attempted rape slips by easily thanks to plot inconsistency for the sake of comedy. It can detect someone's drawing motions and dirty words but not movements.

Oh and I've heard from those that say 'Oh it's not the humor what about the social commentary?' Look, if I wanted a social commentary with mass surveillance I'd watch Psycho Pass. Not some anime with weak surveillance and our hero is a woman with a sixth grade sense of humor and her easily swayed beta of a pawn. Yes I get it, it's supposed to be a tongue-in-cheek criticism of out-of-hand censorship.

TL;DR A terrible comedy with an interesting idea which also fails with it's half-assed Fahrenheit 451 attempt at mass surveillance plus an annoying woman-child as a female main character.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. 8/10 but I debate on bumping it up to 9/10.

Little Witch Academia: The Enchanted Parade
It was okay. Not as contained as the previous episode but the new girls were nice.

Death Note
It started incredibly well but lost track after a while and after L dies it becomes a mess.

Monster
Same as with Death Note. It started getting worse at around episode 30. Johan is one psycho bitch.

Non Non Biyori: Repeat
It was great just as expected.

Hibike! Euphonium
Honestly it's one of the better KyoAni series in a while. All the characters in the class has their own design which is always a plus. And the main cast feel fleshed out. I like it a lot.

Outlaw Star
It was okay.

Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works (TV) 2nd Season
Pretty underwhelming better than first season in any case and the fight between Shiro and Archer was well done.

Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Zoku
Not as good as the first season and I dislike the new character designs.

Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka
Boring. Also from J.C Staff aka reusing weird sfx.

Ping Pong the animation 9.5/10

The art style is very unique, the story is short and well written and best of all, the ost is godlike. Excellent show overall.
