i just got done this series...nad g*d damn it! i hate that m*therf*cker Makoto!
he is a most spine-less, most two-faces, most manipulative, hornyist, *sshole i ever seen in any anime, manga, henti, or doujin.
not to mention, everyone els in this series is f*cked-up. the only normal one i seen was that one other dude.
idk, maybe i'm just pissed because Makoto got laid more than me...that *sshole had 3 chicks at once at one point.

I watched School Days long time ago. It was maby 7/10. I didn`t like the main character but was still o.k. Original Visual Novel was better.

I was one of the ones that watched this as it came out. I hated Makoto more & more with each episode until he started just getting with random girls like Hikari and his other classmates. Then, I just thought... "this is so ridiculous it's hard to be mad anymore" and they upped the ante further by going the fun ending route that probably startled a few people. Nice Boat!

i know this is an old thread, but much to my dismay i dont think i can enjoy watching harem anime the same way ever again because of the anime series school days (which i only recently found and finished).
As an anime, i like school days. the character portrayals were really good, how they showed each action taken affected another character was well executed, and the torture on kotonoha's face as she goes through this mental anguish really makes you feel for her character. the story was also clear with its message and branched out into dark and interesting story points so twisted it makes for an an enjoyable viewing experience.
That said, after school days, every time i see harem anime shows like to love ru, omamori himari or kanokon (etc) i cant help but wonder which one of the women will finally get sick of being cheated on that they will snap and kill the main character.
although in most cases i really wouldnt mind if kouta from kanokon yuto from omamori himari, and countless others get killed in the worst way possible. in fact most of these "indecisive main character" types can all just die for all i care. they are so cliche anyway that any appeal these types ever had died out back in the late 1990's.
Because of the way itou treated both sekai and kotonoha, i cant help but feel sorry for harem girls now, especially getting stuck with morons that cant even decide what they really want. harem anime only work because they are always in comedic situations, apply real world or even slice of life to it and you get a crazy b*tch that will gut you like a fish. Before it was all just fun and ecchi teasing but now after laughing at the dumb recycled jokes my smile fades away as i
see the severed heads of the main character (of that series) and the opened bellies of their rivals.

The Male Character is on par Makoto, in the "Most hated male character", although less hornier than MAkoto.
