Star Driver: Kagayaki no Takuto

Summary: To the south of Japan, there lies a lush green island called Southern Cross Isle. One night, a boy by the name of Takuto Tsunashi washes up on the shore of the island alone. Having swum from the mainland alone and without any possessions, this boy enrolls in the senior high level in the school on the island - Southern Cross High School.

With his bright and positive personality, he starts to mix with various students in the school and builds relationships with many of them, including Wako Agemaki and Sugata Shindou. But this school hides a deep secret. There are sleeping giants hidden under the ground called "Cybuddies".

There are about 20 of these giants, and they are just some of the various secrets kept by everyone on the island: The secret movements of the mysterious organization known as "Kirahoshi Juujidan". The songs of the shrine maidens. And even Takuto himself will soon come to embrace a great secret...

This island in the southern territories surrounded by the blue sea and the blue skies is the stage where the "Eulogy of Youth" filled with love, dreams and friendships, will begin. (From MAL)

I wasn't sure what to make of this series when it was first announced, but since I saw the trailer, I'll definitely be watching it. The animation looks crisp, and I've been looking for another good mecha series since Gurren Lagann.

What do you guys think? Will you be checking it out this October?

I have to be honest, this anime comes across as a combination of the shit plot of Kurogane no Linebarrels with TTGL artstyle. I hope I'm wrong.

I'm going to end up watching it regardless probably, there's a huge lack of good shonen action this season and i've been craving some fire and brimstone.

hmm I enjoy Linebarrles (from and artistic point) and TTGL (story more than art) so a combonation of the two done right, I'd rly enjoy.


This show, I rly like the art design, the story seems interesting, I am gonna add this to my long list of shows I'll be watching. ^^

This is my most looked forward to show of the season right now, so yeah. I'll be watching for sure. Can't wait.

The presentation reminds me of G gundam. I'll check it out.

I showed my friend the trailer, and he plans to watch it, but his comment made me lol "why does the white mecha thingy have such a gay pose, is he like a mecha Lelouch?"

Haha, well, Jun Fukuyama does voice one of the main characters of the show so you never know...

Well after seeing this, I can safely say I am glad I put this on my watch list, overall I am liking this, I really can't wait for more, I liked the OP song (most of that bands songs I've enjoyed) as for the ED I really like the song and look of it. The story is a typical shounen theme right? I like that, Takuto's outfit is definitely fabulous and that title he's got is just hilarious, been a while since I've seen something like this.

For some reason, I had this urge to cosplay as Takuto in his FABULOUS suit, and I belive I can actually pull it off. 0.0

That's how great of a first impression this first episode left me with.

I highly anticipate many ppl cosplaying that FABULOUS ensemble. I would to myself if I could.

I was very pleased with the first episode. Even though it was quite cheesy at the end. Regardless, the story, the characters and the plot so far highly overshadow such a small downside.

I am eagerly awaiting the next episode.

This anime has more cheese than I would like. I certainly don't think it was a BAD first episode, but I don't think it was a good one either. Despite semi-nudity, it seems very saturday morning cartoonish, something I think was reflected in how there were Ultraman commericals during the broadcast.

I'll catch the next episode but I do hope it becomes more interesting.

Does anyone who saw the first episode really have an idea what was going on?

I sure don't...

Still, seems like it has potential, as long as they explain things eventually.
