Haha, yeah. This arc definitely looks promising, with all of the beautiful ladies fighting over a big sword. If that isn't phallic, I don't know what is.

Stiyl is useless in this episode, and I still don't get Tsuchi's ability. Since in Season 1, he turned everything to normal. But in this episode, his ability is to locate people(?)...

Everyone who said Stiyl is useless is practically blind.

Without him, Tsuchimikado won't cannot expect to win against Oriana Thoson
Without his sacrifice, Tsuchimikado won't ever had a chance to find the Short hand.

WITHOUT HIS SACRIFICE Touma wouldn't find the Short hand.

By the end of the Daihaiseisai Arc he was badly injured to the point he was sent to a hospital and needed surgery, but recovered shown in later volumes.

Tsuchimikado Motoharu

Abilities

He was formerly a skilled Onmyouji, as his family are descendants of Abe no Seimei, but gave up his abilities when he went under the Power Development Curriculum. His esper ability is the Level 0 Auto Regeneration. He is the only successful esper/magician hybrid.

* Onmyoji Arts: He's very skilled in basic magic and Onmyouji, as he managed to erect a barrier during Angel Fall and destroy Touma's home using a spell.

* Level 0 Auto-Rebirth (肉体再生 (オートリバース), Nikutai Saisei?, lit. "Body Regeneration"): Due to his ability, he can still use magic, as he can repair the damage done to his body. Despite these advantages, he still avoids using magic except in the most desperate of situations as he cannot avoid the extreme pain caused by casting it, shown when he destroyed the spell location of Angel Fall, resulting in him falling in a large pool of his own blood that came from his eyes, nose, mouth and several other parts of his body. He also mentions that his ability is not perfect (being a Level 0) and could at anytime fail to revive him, causing him to die permanently. He estimates that he may only have 5 or 6 "lifelines" left. Although he has this ability, it has not been shown as to how it activates or works. The only time when he is seen as "dead" is lying in his blood pool after destroying Touma's house to prevent Angel Fall. The next time he's seen, all of his injuries have been recovered.

* Hand to Hand Combat: Tsuchimikado is a very skilled hand-to-hand fighter. He easily defeats Touma- who is a rather experienced street fighter himself- without Touma even being able to land a single hit. Touma claims that he could only possibly win if he were going against two (non-magical or esper) opponents at once.

I agree. This season of Index has been all over the place, and rather confusing at times.

Too much magic, not enough esp.

it's only HAlf way trough the season and you just start to dislike it. It's going in a complete Linear line following the progress from the Light Novels without significant changes.

Honestly, you're like the guy in 2ch who destroyed his To Aru Majutsu Index collection, just because there was less Misaka in the early episodes....

It's all about balance.. let's recap the WHOLE story arcs.

1st Volume -> Index Arc -> Balanced
2nd volume -> Deep Blood Arc -> Magic

4th Volume -> Angel Fall Arc -> Magic
5th Volume -> Three Stories Arc -> Balanced
6th Volume -> Kazakiri Hyouka Arc -> Science(End of the 1st Season)
7th Volume -> Orsola Aquinas Rescue Arc -> Magic
8th Volume -> Tree Diagram Remnant Arc -> Science
9th volume -> Daihaisei Festival Arc -> Balanced(Currently)
10th Volume -> Daihaisei Festival Arc: Pietro's Cross -> Magic
11th Volume -> La Regina del Mare Adriatico Arc -> Magic
12th Volume -> Academy City Invasion Arc: Misaka's Date -> Science
13th Volume -> Academy City Invasion Arc II: Vento of the Front -> Balanced(End of the 2nd season)

This is based more on the involvement of certain characters and the priority of the story.

The 6th Volume is rather confusing, since it involves Kazakiri Hyouka (esper) and Sheryl Cromwell (Magician), But I tagged it as Science since it revolves around Kazakiri Hyouka and the explanation of the AIM Field, where as Sheryl Cromwell only serves as a "interrupter" in this arc.

There are other Arcs that I'm confused of because of this.
