This show really let me tolerate the idea of ever having a kid someday, like I know that this all just fiction(duh...) but still it just gives me the idea that having a kid wouldn't be all that bad.


It's really not all that bad. Of course, there are lots and I mean LOTS of annoyances, shortcomings and inconveniences, but if you care, or end up caring for the kid/s in your custody, you'll come to the conclusion that it's worth it. The feelings of a child are, perhaps, among the most honest and innocent, so that's why we feel great when we realise their existence; because we subconsciously sense the sincerity behind them.

I honestly didn't think this would be as good as it is. I'm actually really enjoying this anime. It is very heart-warming and endearing. It's like an anime Chicken Soup for the Soul.

I'm not planning to discuss this series, but I just want to put out that this show does not deserve the negative criticism that /a/ has given it. The series so far is moving along at a very good pace. The characters are all genuine; they are just normal people that the audience can relate to. Even though only 4 episodes are out, we can see some very clear character developments already. I expect this series to continue to draw my interest with it's down to earth slice of life atmosphere.

I really hope this has a happy ending or something. And no, don't point me to spoilers.

This was such an eventful episode, but it turned out beautifully. Rin's mother seems as flakey as predicted, although I wasn't expecting her to be a mangaka. I really like how Daikichi stepped up this episode, though, and I felt pretty teary eyed when he was crying after Rin said that Daikichi will always be Daikichi, and when Rin was graduating from nursery school. Great stuff. I can feel Daikichi turning into a great guardian.

I'm just really wondering about Rin's mom, and her boyfriend. I'm wondering if he had anything to do with her abandoning Rin, or if he came in the picture afterwards. I wonder if he even knows...

Good turn out, certain scenes were changed to save scene time but in the end the episode did a good job of getting the point across. I really like the character design of this anime, it's true, realistic, and believable without being too boring.

On a side note, the way Daikichi looks reminds of an older Sato from "Welcome to the N.H.K".

I just can not like the woman (Masako).Seems rather insincere to began with and her reason was not much of a reason at all. Daikichi is not even a parent and making more of an effort on his part than I believe she would, but guess that is just my way of seeing it and I guess I am being unfair. Although, I suppose she did make the right choice to not try to take Rin herself in that condition. Still not even sure how she and the old man had a baby together....


Need to get the manga version.

While I will forever enjoy this in manga form more, I absolutely adore the animation style they used for this. It really harkens to the manga with it's soft pastels and smooth lines.

Plus, Rin is just adorable.

Anyway, that's just my two cents.

Episode 6:

Spoiler:
A very relaxing and nostalgic episode, at least for me. I remember bringing home a tree to plant when I was younger, and watching it grow, and I could relate a lot to Rin's joy in this episode. Makes me wonder if the tree I planted is still around, too.

ep .7 is out.

is episode deals with marriage and the roles that spouses play. dont expect many Awwww moments this episode because this episode tries to go into the harsh realities of marriage.

it may me being confused or mixing it up but the show seems to say that if women feel they are be neglected or shouldering all the weight they should suck it up and deal with it for the sake of their kids. in my head a culture clash happens. In America women just as much right to walk away from a marriage for any reason as a man and in my perception will not be looked down upon for it. However in my perception of how Japan feels on the matter, divorce is looked down upon and it is hard for women to get good enough jobs to pay for a child or two on her own. this is because of the stricter gender roles that are in Japan's culture. I felt it was just plain wrong for Daikichi to call the home behind her back and wrong for him to advocate for her to stay with the husband when it was obvious that she was not happy with him. Over all the show seemed to advocate staying with the husband and that bothered the crap out of me.

Daikichi did say that it was unhealthy, and I agree, but it's Haruko's choice in the end. It was interesting to see this from the alternative perspective, too, I think.

why did tey just skippe a lot of manga chapters? I just had the time to watch this week's episode, but a lot of interesting chapters were skipped... and the episode was as you have put it a cultural clash.

Probably due to time constraints, since the anime is only going to be 11 episodes.

Man, it hurts me everytime I see Kouki's mom, knowing that Daikichi is a total wuss and doesn't have the courage to confess to Kouki's mom, eventhough both Rin and Kouki was encouraging him... damn... I wished the Time skip never existed and I never read it at all...
