Usagi Drop

Yeah, it was disappointing that things didn't go that route. That said, I was convinced from early on in the manga that those two would never get together. It would've taken a lot of focus away from Rin and towards a really obvious romantic couple.

Well it's turning Autumn, and it's time for Rin's school to have their Cultural Festival. We get to see her drawings from earlier episodes and Daikichi overhears 2 mothers discussing their children having colds, and no one in the school would know where it came from. Big surprise...on the way home Kouki's mom sees that Rin is looking flushed, and discovers she has a high fever, and Daikichi freaks out as usual, and ends up taking her to see a pediatrician. His diagnosis is that it is a stomach flu and prescribes some medicine for Rin. Unfortunately her fever continues to rise and she won't take her medicine, even if it's mixed in with some fruit juice. Kouki's mom comes over to help out and make some rice porridge for her and Daickichi, and she tells Rin if she eats it, she will feel better in no time.
The next day, she is feeling much better, hungry as she is still weak, but fully recovered.

When Usagi Drop was first released, it hit me back with it's relaxed and cute feel, so I really enjoyed it. However, after the initial rush happened, I just released how little was actually happening. I don't care that, in the manga, there is a time-skip; all I care about is what I'm watching right in front of me.

For example, in this episode, hardly anytime was spent with Kouki's mum; I would have liked some attention there (not in a romantic way, but in a "how does a child cope when his mother is ill sort of way"). Also, we spent far too much time focused on Rin's teeth falling out; yes, we all lose our milt-teeth, but it isn't a spectacular event.

And this is how I pretty much felt throughout the entire series; yes, the character interactions are very well written and done, but the attention could be spent better elsewhere. It's this lack of something special that stopped this anime getting a 8/10. When compared to my other 8's, it just doesn't match up in terms of plot and development.
