rep points just indicates how much a user has posted something to FAKKU that everyone enjoyed or found helpful/useful... people who think rep points are means of authority over other members are neither helpful nor praise worthy...

As said many times above, every system has its flaws, and just because some people exploit it, should the mass be punished? It may be useless to you, but it's not useless to all.
Scenario: The forums themselves fall subject to an exploit, would you then call the forums "useless" and claim that because they are flawed they have no right to exist?
