Okay... that makes sense...
About as much sense as someone who hates cooking utensils telling me that he loves cooking, that is.

Not too uncommon back home, actually. Subcontinental folks tend to eat more with hands. c:

Cooking utensils are tools used in cooking or food preparation.Oh... thought that entailed dining utensils too, lol. ^^;

I wish I had taken the regular astronomy class now, instead of fucking astrophysics. =n=l-lol, why is that? astrophysics is infinitely fascinating as well ~ i've actually only had a physics class, nothing about astronomy or anything yet. :c maybe someday.
Because as fascinating as astronomy and the study of space itself is, this is still astro-PHYSICS. Meaning, angles, numbers, and all that shit.
...and... how do you ever verify whatever you learn in that astronomy without 'all that shit'?
I do agree, that having both is great, learning is never a bad thing. But for a lot of things certain scientist can't do, it can be given to others who specialize in the subject. Multiple teams can work on different aspects of a project, so I think you can get away without having astrophysics. Discovery one person, verification another. Like Lenards job of verifying hypothesis by other people, in the tv show "big bang theory".
On another note.... Stars are not for looking at, their for reaching! I will never be content till we make active pursuits to a outlaw star-like interest in space. I'm happy we have gotten to the point of commercializing space travel, but it's not enough, we need space colonies!

I really suggest you to learn more physics.
You can't even make any hypothesis without a good handle of mathematics. Oh wait, I meant to say, to create a physical theory demands much higher understanding of mathematics than what you need to do experiments.
Smh people thinking theoretical physics is a field where you spout random shit and demand others to spend billions so it can be verified.

Spoiler:
When did I say "mathematics is unnecessary?", "anything on physical theories?", "anything on Theoretical Physics or the money that goes into it?". Who are "you" arguing with?
All I said was Astronomers don't need Astrophysics.
Thanks for the condescension and the middle finger. You have a nice day too.

Now I feel that my condescension wasn't just me being a dick and it was completely justified. Many thanks.

Ya I see, how that could be misunderstood, I didn't word the sentence well.

From what you linked:
Astronomy is a natural science that deals with the study of celestial objects (such as moons, planets, stars, nebulae, and galaxies); the physics, chemistry, and evolution of such objects; and phenomena that originate outside the atmosphere of Earth (such as supernovae explosions, gamma ray bursts, and cosmic background radiation).
Astrophysics (Greek: Astro - meaning "star", and Greek: physis – φÏσις - meaning "nature") is the branch of astronomy that deals with the physics of the universe, including the physical properties of celestial objects, as well as their interactions and behavior.
And from your own post:
"...Astronomers don't need Astrophysics to be Astronomers."
Rofl. I don't see how can it be understood as anything except dumb. I would break it down into detail but for the fun of it let's see how you notice how silly your claim is.
@Art: Most of the time, I'm myself. It's just which plugin I have on at the time.

Spoiler:
Astronomy.
Spoiler:
Astrophysics
Spoiler:
Astronomer
Spoiler:
To make this simpler on me, since you can't be bothered to read more than the first paragraph of my links. Find me the articles/source to prove me wrong. Find me proof Astrophysics are necessary to be an astronomer. I'm really tired of this.

Oh, I did not consider the possibility that you meant those recreational astronomers who stare at the sky and stops there. Of course you don't need astrophysics for that!
As much like how you can stare at birds and memorize their names and then call yourself an ornithologist, that is.
