I proposed DDC, and got slapped in the face.

There's Hopeless Masquerade, but until a patch that improves HM's netplay comes to surface, A HM tourney is out of the question.

Jen said the event doesn't have to utilize a game- so we somehow ended up with a drawing event. This is just an idea and is in no way final.

The main idea is that we make a huge drawing, preferably christmas/new year themed, composed of everyone's individual submissions. Instead of making it a contest, this is more of a project. Here's part of a skype log to give you an idea.

Now for the issues with this idea.

  • Not everyone can draw well. This is true, but your submission doesn't need to be pixiv-tier or anything like that. I don't even draw myself, but I think I can manage to draw a bearded Youmu.


  • Someone's going to have to draw the background/backdrop. I point at Jenkins. If we're going with my idea, we would need a mini SDM, or something like that.


  • Someone has to manage the whole thing. That would be me, since I suggested this whole thing. I'm not talented in this in any way, but if no one else is up for the job, I'll do my best.


  • Medium. Drawing by hand would be easiest, but you'd need a scanner to put it up on the net. I don't have one but I think I can find a scanshop somewhere around here. If you draw digitally with a tablet, that's awesome. Handling your submission would be easier.


Again, this is just an idea. I'm posting this here to ask for everyone's input. This is just what Jenkins and I thought of.


I'll go ahead and say no. I can't draw for diddly squat. I can't even draw anything more than stick figures. Except, backgrounds... For some odd reason, I'm decent at drawing them, but I wouldn't even know how to draw Gensokyo scenery even if I saw it right before my very eyes.

You didn't see it coming? Gitaa has been mowing down stage 6 bosses the last few weeks. I can't imagine how you must feel knowing Gitaa went from zero to victory over Flan before you did.


Especially since I've been trying to do so for more than 2 years...

I myself can't draw too, so it should be fine! Also, we're not going to compare all the submissions and burn the worst one (my bearded youmu, most likely), the main goal here is to make a huge drawing by new years, with everyone's help.

If there's anything you'd like to be changed, to make you participate, just fire away.

A bearded myon sounds tempting. I'm in for this drawing thing, it may turn into a battle of stick figures though. I claim the stick figure with bat wings.


Still haven't cleared Imperishable Shooting despite making it to the 7th round.

Just to let you guys know, I am all four to discuss and join the drawing event. With that being said, I suggest everyone else reading it to share the same sentiment. It's still on planning phase, we can adjust it however you all see fit. It's been quite awhile since we work together instead of aiming for the other's head in a competition. To make this happen, I need all the contributions and inputs I can get from everyone here, if possible.

Of course, we may also consider the possibility of having Slap BiBi's Face event.

You can make that face, and have that opinion on it all ya want, BUT, Touhou was made to be competitive in nature. I'm willing to brace the storm, and come out better for it. :3

I already talked with fuwaru about the event, and my participation in a drawing event is out of the question. I'm too much of a perfectionist, and too slow of a drawer, to be of any good.

Hold your nugget, champ, nobody implied otherwise. There is no rule stating that you must only see a thing from one side.
Is there really just no chance for you to participate in any possible drawing event? We don't want to leave anybody behind; it'd be lovely if everyone joined.

Haru is such a ninja.
You should install the language pack and switch your locale to it. In time you do, you should let us know again whether you still experience the same problem or not. In regard to the drawing event; yes, we're not going to draw anything complicated. Do you have inputs on what we better draw to celebrate the festivities (new year and christmas)?

Phantasmagoria of New Year Eve sounds neat for the event's name.

i'm not really sure, but it should be given the opportunity to choice among the various events and/or activities that fall under the holiday period.
The first shrine visit of the year might be something to take some inspiration from

Nope, there isn't.

As a side note... I still can't get past Captain Murasa in UFO. I had 3 lives, and 2 bombs when I started against her...

For the Christmas drawing, anything focusing at chimney should be fine enough (example). Aside from drawing your own piece for the event, would you mind to also take the coloring job?

Does this mean we're doing two separate drawings?

If we're doing two, I'll be drawing Youmu for the christmas one and Satori for the other.

Kidding aside, I've been gone for the better part of a whole week! Apologies for leaving without a word and leaving things dangling in free fall.
The soku tourney will resume whenever the participants next down the ladder are ready (currently Zandwarf, 21st), and true to my word of time being flexible, there won't really be a deadline placed on any following matches after that - so long as both parties are cooperative and communicate with one another!

If we are ripping that off, Jenkins needs to be Nagato from both worlds. Zandorf can be Haruhi. Haru can be Kyon. Gitaa is Mikuru and Zafhner is Koizumi. I'll be person watching it on blu-ray when recording is done.

When it did happen to me it was on a computer with non-Japan locale and not running the game via AppLocale.

I am strangely okay with this.

Also, if HM still crashes even with the jap language pack, maybe the v1.32 patch can fix it. I don't know what the patch does yet, but it may contain some bug fixes.

HM doesnt crash at Kokoro when running on Japanese locale.
