To catch your attention, take your time to admire Koishi:

Attention garnered, now for a topic we might able to expand; it's a common knowledge that ZUN usually got his inspirations from relatively well-known folklore, some trivia from his favorite literature and writers, super/natural occurrences, and etc. Some examples from what I know:
... and etc.
Surely, there must be more than just this. Does anybody have inputs? Or perhaps those already mentioned still have room to be expanded? Be nice and share your wisdom to fellow peers, mentlegen. Take it slowly though, we cannot afford to deal with piled up inputs and accidentally overlook some.

- Touhou 9.0 - Phantasmagoria of Flower View used the concept of chinese's cycle of sixty terms used to record days or years, Sexagenary Cycle. It's further emphasized by Shikieiki's theme, Fate of Sixty Years.

- Toyosatomimi no Miko, Mononobe no Futo, and Toga Sojiko, are based on real people; Prince Shoutoku, Mononobe no Futsuhime, and Tojiko no Iratsume, respectively.

- Touhou 8.0 - Imperishable Night is based from The Tale of The Bamboo Cutter.

- Shimyoumaru Sukuna from Touhou 14.0 - Double Dealing Character is based on Issun-Boshi, a mini samurai from japanese folklore.

... and etc.

To add to what Jenkins listed, there's also the possibility that Komeiji Satori and Komeiji Koishi might have been inspired by
"The Two Fridas", a painting by Frida Kahlo.
It's a painting of two women with exposed hearts and arteries. One of them has a damaged heart, a pair of scissors and a cut artery- which may resemble Koishi and her closed third eye.
Other than appearance, though, there's nothing else that resembles the Komeiji sisters. The painting depicts something completely different, which is explained in the link above.
Edit: Baka clear get.

It's worth noting that Koishi closed her third eye on her own volition, and was not a by product of a situation as experienced by the Fridas - Appearance wise, a damaged heart also makes a poor substitute; Closing one's eye is a form of escape, much like shutting a gate to close out the things outside.
While on the topic of the Komeiji sisters, why not relate to the whole ensemble of their time instead? This old article here would suggest a likely relation between the seven sins and the cast of Touhou 11.0 - Subterranean Animism.

In SA, she only defends herself from Reimu and Marisa. In defense of this statement, she even told them that they were free to go down to the underground city. But because of the set of others antagonizing Reimu and Marisa (aka Aya, Suika, Yukari, Alice, Patchouli, and Nitori (those biased bastards)), she was seen as an enemy when she wanted to be friends.
I have no clue how that would be considered wrath.

It's just so unfair and inexcusable on how they treat Rumia and Meiling. Not to count how weird it is for Reimu to say "your ability is nothing unusual" to Sakuya, while we can clearly see that even Akyuu was impressed with Sakuya's unique unteachable time control ability in PMiSS.
