What's that carbonated beverage sold in vending machines called?
Soft-drink unless your lazy, then soda will do just find. Colas though, are all referred to as coke.
I simply call it "Soft-drinks". :D

When I lived in AL everyone called all "soft-drinks" Coke. When I moved north this caused me problems, here in ND they call soft drinks by Pop, if you say Coke they think you mean Coca-Cola.

It's totally pop in the Iowa( Midwest ), don't know what that guy is thinking that was one of the first posts.
If I wake up to get me one, it's called a cold pop. Otherwise, I call it a soda.
I'm not native English speaker, so it's hard to tell. I guess I'd just simply call it a drink.
In LA people call it soda with both the English and Spanish speakers here.

Usually call the beverages pop, but that's probably due to my job.
Most people call it coke because of brand recognition, but it's really call soda the other names are slang.
For me, living in Newcastle makes it pop. Mostly, however, I refer to it just as a can.
I've never called it soda, I don't think any Englishman would.
