Connecticut Elementary School Shooting

I found this to be not only interesting but true. Your opinions?Spoiler:
For the most part, it's true. The more you idolize someone, the more interest it gains, and for those people that might be on edge as it is, either because of bullying, or other reasons, see this, and think, "Wow, I can gain recognition by doing this. This will teach 'em!" It may sound silly to us that can still think rationally, but for someone on the brink of a breakdown for whatever reason, this is their "way out".
The second part of it, is that something like this is news. Something to gain massive interest, and a wide audience. That's what they want. Ratings, views, and so on. Why care about anything else when you can benefit from a tragedy? This is, unfortunately, how the news thinks about things, and it's pretty sad to think that it's only negative media that gains the attention of your audience. It's like they're saying that it's only the bad things people care about, which in part, might be true, but not completely.
As for the topic, it's sad to see such a thing as this. Now, instead of a child living to bury their parents after living for so long, two adults will now have to bury their child that had a future ahead of them. It's sad, really. Just sad.

That said, right now, it is time to respectfully let the child survivors of this tragedy try to find some solace... I only pray the media does not tear their lives apart in the aftermath. You know they will, in some way or another, because it's news. It's what'll gain views and ratings, and sadly, it's what many want to see, it seems. I'll be more surprised if they do, then if they don't, because people are just that shallow.
And people wonder why I hate people in general. No matter how "evolved" we become, at the end of the day, we still act like complete and utter morons.

I know it's probably not my place to say this, but every-time I hear about these things the first thing that hits me is the disgust. I don't frankly care what kind of background or what shit you were under in your life, it's not your place to take other people's lives for this; what I absolutely cannot stand is the people that commit suicide after this.
You finally work the balls to do something so disgustingly despicable but you don't have the balls to look their families in the eyes after taking away loved ones?
Another thing, video games is just a scape-goat in my opinion. All that garbage and nonsense about becoming more violent is a load of absolute garbage. My little brother, plays shooters, hack-and-slashers, and fairly gory video games, including the first two God of Wars, and he even listens to me trash(cuss words and all that) talk players when I'm hyped up.
You know what he is? Honor Student, B+ Average student, member of school marching band. When he's frustrated with kids when he's online gaming he ignores them or blacklists them so he doesn't put up with their shit. He comes to me when he needs help with his homework, or when something bothers him. You want to know what he does at night before he goes to bed? He watches TV shows on his laptop, he watches "Friends" a-lot and he can quote so many episodes it's hilarious, because I actually watch over my brother, I know he will never do dumb shit like this.
Ugh, this turned out longer than I imagined, when I hear/read news like this it pisses me off, where the fuck are the parents, stop blaming video games and MTV and everything of that nature.
The problem with people is that they don't watch over their kids, they don't read between lines or connect with their kids.

That may well have been the case for the murderer's upbringing, but the victims were in a space that frankly, is one of the safer places to be for a child that young (aside from in a parent's arms). The fact that someone would break into and defile such a place of importance and learning for future generations is a shock, one I am sure parents and administrators could never anticipate fully.
Yes, plenty of older levels of schooling teach children how to react in emergencies (and even the younger ones have drills), but children of the ages of the victims could not possibly hope to ever defend themselves or comprehend such an attack, even if it occurred in the safety of their own homes.

Yeah, I agree and already understood on alot of what you pretty much said beforehand. I got a little emotional because things of this caliber disgust me more than anything, senseless murders leading to a cowardly suicide. What better place to commit a crime than on a bunch of harmless children where your mother works right, with your mother's weapons nonetheless, and being let in by a family friend where it seems like a casual visit. It might sound weird but I have no clue why they didn't check his bags or whatever he was holding, which probably was a duffel. Because there's no way he's sneaking in a .223 rifle in his back pocket.
Probably because I went to school in a different kind of neighborhood they checked your bags whether you were 6 or 60.

What the fuck is with the number of mass shootings? What the fuck?
I cannot comprehend what situations or mental burden would give incentive to mass murder. Are the perpetrators so weak-willed that they can't continue their crappy lives?

Is it weird that I feel nothing about this? I mean it is sad but as an individual I see no point in trying to convey my feelings for some people I have not met or even ties too. Maybe its just me and I should just see a psychologist.

Interesting to note that the 1927 event had more casualties and never got mentioned in the news. Yet, I did hear the "worst shooting in a school ever in the country" get told in one of the newscasts.

I honestly feel mad about it because I have a younger brother that will enter kindergarden soon. So in a way, I can relate to other parents' fears for their children. If this this were a shooting at a high school or a college, I wouldn't be as bothered. I rarely ever react to terrible news even though I know I should. It's only because of their age that it affects me so.

Hmm I see. Glad to see I'm not messed up in the head. Well you do have a little brother so you can relate to the victims in a small way.

This was horrible disgusting news that I woke up to this morning.
I mean 20 children dead and 9 adults. I'm tired of these shootings, and this horrible BS.

And within hours, Mike Huckabee blames the school shooting on removal of prayer from schools.
My misanthropy levels are rising.

You have to be a sick fuck to get the nerves to shoot and kill children. Almost makes me wish hell existed.

I agree it is a tragedy, but at least I don't feel like I'm the only one now.

You are correct, but if we follow your logic the jews should not get sympathy since worse things have happened in history.
