I say spartan will win the entire tournament. Are you sure they're actually doing a tournament? I think they're just going to do those original matchups.
And the next episodes are going to be kind of weird:
Episode 6: Green Beret vs Spetsnaz
Episode 7: IRA vs Taliban (Lol seriously!?)
Episode 8: Shaolin Monk vs MÄori
Episode 9: William Wallace vs Shaka Zulu

When I found out that they were gonna use guns, I abandoned all hope for the glory of sparta.Nah, they'll find a way to make the Spartan win. Also, since went are the Mafia and Yakuza warriors? I never questioned that until now.
Whats up with that?

I'm wondering how much of a difference there is. I mean, guns vs guns? What's the difference besides location?

Just culture and the availability of weapons, I believe.

So the Mafia won. I kind of figured. They just had better weapons and simpler, more effective tactics.
Next week is Green Berets vs. Spetsnaz
I don't really know anything about Spetsnaz but I still think the Russians'll win cause their training is beyond hardcore.

This is an american show so the americans are just going to jerk each other off and rig the stats.
3-0
I'm on a roll.
I'm still rooting for the spetsnaz

Absolutly love this show cant get enough i'm on the edge for this week's too.
Yeah I don't know if they will let the Russians win this one? It is an American show.
But it wont matter because it's the Green Beret and theres no way the Russians can beat them.
I'll say they got around same skill and trainning so it's Green Beret all the way they got better equipment. See I hear all this shit about Spetsnaz hard core trainning but what the Green Beret's were doing ballet? Equal trainning gives the win to the GB because of better equipment.
The IRA vs. Taliban is gonna be so fucking lame I mean the International Reading Association is gonna woop their asses.

I was watching the show with a friend the other day, and when they showed that the next episode would be the Green Berets versus the Spetsnaz, my friend said to me that it comes down to sniping - whoever can snipe the other one first wins. That got me to thinking; if this was a big tournament, where the best warriors fight it out to the very end, until there's one on top, then the guy who can snipe best is going to win. He can kill easily, and he can hide so that he can't be killed.
Alternatively, whoever has the best/biggest weapon would win. If you gave all the warriors a missile launcher, nobody would come out on top because of skill. It'd just be luck.
Kind of takes the fun out of the show.

Well for both sniping and a guy with a missile launcher have flaws. For sniping all you have to do is stay out of sight and slowly get closer and closer, he cant see everything. Then when your next to the guy stick a nade in is pocket and run away.
As for missile launcher all you have to do is close the gap what is he going to do at point blank range blow himself up? (oh and in a battle to see who survives killing yourself means you lose). Basicly pistol beats missile launcher when you can't use the missile launcher.
Also it dosn't always come down to sinpers it depends on the enviorment what about in a house an assault rifle is looking alot more "ballin" now. Oh and M16's have been known to clame kills at more than 300 yards.

Well I called it. Spetsnaz won.
That puts my record at 4-2. Not bad, not bad at all.
Next week is Shaolin Monks vs. Maori Warriors.
I've never heard of the Maori but they showed them a little during the preview and they look fuckin' crazy. I still think the Shaolin Monks will win though.

maori warriors are from Hawii and the Pacific islands. I seen how they fight on the history channel show called warriors. I predict their savageness to over come the monk.

I always wonder where they manage to find these "experts" on weapons and tactics, and why all of them seem to have an ego the size of an elephant (which is larger than the moon).
Plus I'm still pissed off at the video player for looping those stupid-ass gum commercials nonstop.

I was really dissapointed in this one I knew it was gonna be close but the GB losing was upsetting to me. But dam was it close 519 to 481 that can just be tossed up to luck. This just goes to show how devastating the cold war would have been if it had gone hot.
Interesting fact though the M4 was the most effective weapon in the battle. This is the first time the loser had the most effective weapon.
But next week it the MOST ANTICIPATED match yet the Shaolin Monks vs. the Maori Warriors....... Wait who? I mean really MOST ANTICIPATED ha thats a laugh. This is the only one that I really don't know one of the sides. I've heard about Maori Warriors before but I really don't know much about them. So it will be educational for me but it's not going to be anything to freak out about.
But I accept defeat. This time!

Just picked this up after looking at this thread. I have to admit I'm intrigued by this show, and the dick-rubbing is all part of the competition, nothing out of the norm. It makes it funnier as well. Since I just picked this show up after the Yakuza vs Mafia, I'm 1 and 0 for picking Spetznaz. I think the Shaolin monk will prevail over the Maoui warrior just because the Shaolin discipline and training are so much more than some native tribe can handle. These monks were trained to fight, disarm, and kill if necessary. No tribesman can overpower that, no matter how savage or sneaky. And these monks aren't dumb either, they know how to fight with their heads.
I was surprised at the two hooks' sharpness... chop pork indeed.
Another thing about Spetznaz vs. Green Beret was the calling the M4 a draw with the AK-74. I think they glossed over some of the facets of each gun. The M4 is so much versatile than the AK-74 or its origin the AK-47, with the addition of sights, grenade launcher, silencers, and the inclusion of the picatiny rail that allows additional gear to put on. But, the AK-74's strength lie in easier maintenance and less gun malfunctions than the M4. M4 wins in rate of fire but the AK-74 wins in range with both guns having similar muzzle velocities.

@rbz123: the M4A1 without a doubt is an awesome weapon, perfect for close and mid-ranged combat. If only the M4 could sort out certain problems like easier maintenance, correction of certain gun malfunctions, and making the M4A1 more versatile, it would be one killer weapon. I mean more versatile in terms of fighting environments. The M4A1 failed spectacularly at the dust test compared to other guns, something that should be rectified. If the M4 was improved in that area, it would be the best assault rifle hands down.
Reminds me of Halo 3's assault rifle, which is close to perfection if it wasn't for the exclusion of the SOPMOD block kit, or lack of. Imagine in Halo 3 if the assault rifle and battle rifle were combined in one... that would be godly and more realistic. It would have the battle rifle design and scope, but with a shroud like that of the assault rifle with the option of firing bursts in-scope and full auto-fire non-scope.
Another thing about Shaolin monk training - it was fucking brutal. Can't touch that shit.

Spoiler:
I agree the M4 should have won hands down but they want to tie the overall weapons each show so one of the weapons had to tie. About the whole dont leave out long range it's got about 900 yards thats basically a sniper rifle (I say this loosely). One thing that wont change is the fact of "easier maintenance" it's good because it's complex and if you dumb it down it wouldn't be as good. About the dust is because of its advanced parts and they really cant get dirty like the standard parts in most guns. Dont leave out the fact that it was the most effective weapon!

I meant that the M4 still has some tune-ups to go through in order to become the best AR. I don't consider ARs as long-range combat since the effective range usually number in the 400-700m range, and anything beyond that will wound but won't kill.

But the Maori are crazy!! I think because of the pure raw power and brutality will present an interesting battle to see whose better the civilized or the savage.I've seen Shaolin monks do one-fingered handstands and repel two bulls pulling in the opposite direction. I dunno about you, but Shaolin monks have a lot of power in their own right.
