I have the same problem.
I usually just focus on things that put a smile on my face[like POKEMON!!!] or, oddly enough, listen to some Senses Fail. Kind of acts as a canceller, fight emo with emo, ect., ect.

I personally think of the worst in others in order to make my self better in comparison, especially while driving. Fuck other people on the road, they are all retarded.

I've always been a cry baby. I pent things up inside until I break and basically have a bout of crying, and it's basically like I'm letting everything go and all the negative pent up energy seeps out of my body. I'm always exhausted after crying, so I go to sleep and the next day I basically feel like a new person.

I don't really remember how I used to deal with it, but I usually start by taking long, deep breaths.

I got some stash of anti-depressant..
Sleep and doing fun no longer works, FAP is not working either.

Channel it into art of some form. write a poem or song, draw a picture, make a sculpture. make it a tool. use it to your advantage.
own it, don't let it own you.
own it, don't let it own you.

Want some good advice for short-term happiness?
Go to the blog called Zooborns. Full of adorable baby animals of all kinds... it's sure to put a smile on your face.
Either that, or try a long bath. :o

-first step is admitting you have depression-next is to find a friend (or a person you trust) and admit to that person that you have depression.

God, this thread makes me depressed.
I don't want to bash anyone's suggestion of dealing with depression, but after doing something along the lines of taking substances (like alcohol or smoking) or passing time (such as sleeping it off or sitting in front of the tv) your depression is only treated - it isn't cured. Won't you wake up tomorrow, the symptoms gone but the disease still there? The fix is temporary, your depression lays simmering until it boils over again. That isn't dealing with depression anymore than bailing out water fixes the hole in the bottom of the boat.
If we want to do more than just keep our depression levels down at times, we need to do more then divert ourselves from depressing thoughts. Whatever our personal beliefs are on life and the universe that surrounds us, we need to find a purpose to our existance. It doesn't need to be spiritual (though it can be) and it doesn't have to be on a grand scale (thought it can be as well), but all of us must find a personal life mission that is important - not in the eyes of the world, but to ourselves. Something we believe to be drastically important for whatever reason we choose to believe it is - but important enough that we believe ourselves important because it is only us who can make our visions reality in the way we imagined them. When we can find something of value and attach ourselves to it, we will value ourselves too much to let depression hinder us because we have a task we are determined to accomplish.
