Do people diss you for liking hentai?

Not really. I get dissed for a lot of stuff (video games and wrestling being the most popular subjects) but hentai is never used against me. Weird, considering the material writes itself. I even converted one of my friends into a hentai fan unintentionally. Funny story but that's for another day.

Can totally relate. My friends got so annoyed with my standards, they once even tasked me to guesstimate the number of faces I see during one month, then keep a separate check on the ones I considered pretty. In the end, the ratio was near 10000:1 XD. I didn't even know about hentai back then though ^^.

I proudly proclaim that all guys are perverted in one way or another whether or not they are aware of it or intend to reveal it (if humans are naturally supposed to not be perverted, we would all go extinct by now). With that said, i also proudly proclaim that at times, Hentai > Real life mainly because of the perfect bodies/faces and it doesnt really matter if they are real or not when it comes to fantasies =p So yes, just about everyone i know knows about it and if they want to diss me, i wouldnt care.

My standards weren't increased by hentai either, but a lot of people say that their standards have.

Haha, this will probably be the opposite of your average scenario.

Most of my friends know that I'm into H, and was teased (not maliciously) with the nickname "Hentai King". In time I grew to be proud of the title, and gathered a small band of like-minded otaku friends and formed the エッチ団 (ecchi-dan, or H-Brigade, in honor of the legendary SOS-dan). As a group of friends we occasionally game together, chat, nurture potential otaku and share H amongst each other. :D

On topic most people don't know I like hentai 9come to think of it I don't think anyone knows?) Well I've gotten dissed for like anime and on several occasions I've been accused of the horrendous act of looking at hentai. I just don't care to answer I've never said that I don't like Hentai I just turn and walk away if someone comments on it.(EX. You like anime so much you probably jerk off to anime porn(turn and walk away)). But if someone asked if I like Hentai I really don't know if I would say yes? I suppose it would be weird I kind of hope it never comes up.

I've only had a few arguments about liking Hentai, or 'Cartoon Porn' for those lacking enlightenment. Most the time is it's along the lines of not being real, therefor pointless.
Is it really any less real then some of the models in today's world? Do you really have a better chance of getting some with a porn star, just because she's real?

im pretty open with my sexual preferences, many of my closer friends already know the facts. the hen-tie t-shirt actually proved useful as an icebreaker on the subject, figures. but regardless the responses ive received have mostly been positive, if only out of humor.

what we hentai(perverted) hentai lovers have to understand is that its hard to justify liking such touchy material. to the general audience hentai is bad, it depicts underage girls and tentacle rape and... just about anything, your imaginations the limit. but what we've inherited from our desensitization to the material is that it just aint fucking real, we've spent countless seconds(around 4) to determine that it aint hurtin no one AND it looks better then the real thing. win win for us.

Unless I know you like anime/manga, I will never tell anyone I like/have anime. It works out better this way from experience.

You know, I get flac from liking anime/manga, let alone hentai. I suppose it really depends on the region you live in and who you are dealing with. I mean, friends who like anime/manga will like hentai, and so far that's held true. But I've had instances where I was being made fun of using hentai as the subject. Interesting thing is that those who made fun of me liking hentai are very few and are assholes but at heart aren't. They just like to use that to get their kicks since I've never actually had anyone diss me for liking hentai. Then again, I usually don't tell anyone period. I think most of my friends can accept me liking anime/manga except for the few which I have long forgotten and never to be seen again, but hentai is one subject that I always avoid because of all the potential troubles it brings. Unless you're an avid fan of anime/manga, hentai is never touched, and it works out better.

Bottom line, keep your interests and hobbies to yourself, and when asked, never give the full truth. I get by my life giving half-truths and white lies. It'll make your life easier. Hentai by nature is a touchy subject like many other pointed out, but even so, discretion should be used, and that goes for anything in general.

I'm actually very..liberal when it comes to my hobbies. Most of the time it passes for a joke, such as "Hey, I hear your into some sick shit"

The only reason to hide it is to avoid being judged by other people(or if your underage). Everyone has their own likes and dislikes, and everyone judges everyone else for them.

I mean, granted you should not go around telling everyone you can that you enjoy watching drawings replicate human reproduction. There are people who can't, and won't understand it. And it's not really dinner conversation worthy. But I fail to see a reason to be any more ashamed of it than most other non-essential activities. Smoking, overeating, drinking, sex(for pleasure, not re-population)... they all tell you something about that person, for better or worse.

I meant in life, white lies and half truths are necessary, but I never said that it had to apply to hobbies/interests. Usually I tell half-truths such as, "I like anime," and not, "I like anime and hentai." Some people manage to find the link between the two and pester me about it. (Well, two people only, and I try to avoid whenever.) You're right, I shouldn't have to lie, but things end up easier if I know what and who to speak about my hobbies/interests. Let's just say that this was a trial and error kind of thing, but a general basis, people don't care if I like anime/manga, but I have received flac for it occasionally. (That's easy to shrug off, no sweat.) But I figured somewhere in my head that me telling people that I like hentai was not going to sit well with the general populace, so I just omitted that altogether, and my life is so much simpler.

Hey, I'm a big fan of bondage, but I'm totally fine talking it here. In real life, only very select, mature people I know know that I like bondage. I suppose it boils down to who can you trust, and how mature they are.

That I absolutely agree with. Here in New Zealand, anime is considered something only nerds would watch, and you get dissed just for watching anime, and even more so if you watch hentai. Porn is all good.

In China, everyone watches anime. Even the adults enjoy stuff like Detective Conan. The location really matters
