Gundam Vs Macross
what Series would win
0
who would win in an all out war between this two series on the Gundam the Gundam from Universal Century to Ano Domini Aka Gundam 00 and on the Macross from the original tho curren series this all out takes in to account even the Turn A Gundam i myself think the gundam series will totally own the macross i mean what can the series do against The Turn A Gundam and is Moonlight Butterfly
1
Any gundam series would simply destroy any macross mechs all though Frontier might be a bit difficult...

I don't think this is a fair fight. For one, Valkyries have conventional weaponry and armor. At the most they have tactical nukes and the pinpoint barrier system. Not unless the Gundam pilots can be affected by a singing Marduk Emulator do I see a fighting chance.

Ya....its a no brainer the macross mecha are so tiny compared to any mobile suit hell just bring in big zam lolz

Macross Cannon! Considering that in Macross, their fleet spans the galaxy and inhabit other plants, there is a HUGE number advantage towards Macross. Also, remember in the original Macross, they can lay waste to an entire planet not to mention planet killers seem to be everywhere in that universe. Speed is also another factor. Units in Gundam take time to move anywhere on the other hand, Macross units can for the most part just space fold right next to the battle.

The Gundams from Gundam X would single-handedly wipe out Macross units. We wouldn't even need to branch out into other series for total domination.

theres no way this would be a fair fight...
first, gundams are usually made from luna titanium or gundanium, which was very strong, electrically neutral, and to some degree heat resistant. so they could take a beating over and over for a long time (and in the event of different timelines... phase shift). and anything from macross... well one good hit and they down.
2nd, for the most part mobile suits were designed in most of the timelines to have either a very long running fuel life (fusion reactors, or fuel) and of course nearly infinite (nuclear drives). anything from macross had to refuel after a while... so i can give them a little credit against any gundam that needed to be refueled as well (not many comes to mind)
3rd, combat capabilities. a valkyrie may be able to beat some gundams in terms of speed, but still gundams are things that can be armed to the teeth, so who needs to move as fast when they can fire a beam larger then some battleships.
its just unfair i tell ya

Wait wait, while I am admittedly not a hardcore Gundam fans, I Thought I've seen many example of Gundam in SEED universe Running out of Fuel(Energy) after some battle, when the color turn to gray.
I knew there's some system that developed in SEED universe that allow Gundam to refuel mid-air by means of beam.
Hmmm....I forgot is it installed in ArcAngel or Minerva.............

Gundam=lazors, missiles, machine guns, nukes, and beam sabers
macross=missile spam
and if you've seen any gundam at all you know that main characters are mostly "missile proof" nya~
plus, moonlight butterfly would turn em all into sand

Gundam universe may generally have more robust grunts, but Macross universe have a lot more of them, and a lot more/better capital ships.
As for how the Macross Universe can go against moonlight butterfly... Nekki Basara will burst into the scene singing and Loran Cehack will turn gay for him, no joke.
Seriously, can anyone imagine the pussies that're typically the pilots of gundams being able to pull the trigger and shoot down an unarmed rock'n roll Valk or giant battle ship robot with a city in its belly that broadcast love songs while projecting holographic images of j-pop idols?

Since I'm bored, will elaborate further!

Wrong! All variable fighters from the Macross universe (starting with the prototype VF-0) have this thing called the SWAG energy converting armor, where excessive energy from the engines are diverted to the armor, multiplying the armor strength a few times.
Also wrong! Valks run on nukes baby! Being twin-engine aircraft, valks each sport 2x thermonuclear turbine.
its just unfair i tell yaAh, but valks also have some good stuff too. Aside from the gunpod, lets not forget the factory standard pulse-laser that they're all armed with, enough missiles to fill the screen, and, well, nukes. That thing Gato was able to do in 0083 with just one nuke? Each valk can carry a few of those too. In the later series, the sure-kill weapon of Gundams, the beam weapons, also become fairly standard amongst the valks. All these are also just the grunt load-out, while in the gundam universe only the few units with a V fin on their forehead gets the neat toys.
The Gundams won't stand a chance. If nothing else, each capital ships in Macross can effectively deal the same kind of damage that a single colony laser in Gundam (where the entire earth sphere fought over) can do, and Macross universe have a LOT of those.

Looking at the points Gatheringsin brings up, I would still have to stick with the Gundams being the more superior unit.
First and most importantly....
All UC Mobile Suits have a Minovski Reactor which releases Minovski particles. As we know, Minovski particles wreak havoc on electrical circuits that don't have the proper shielding. Because I'm sure Valkyries don't have such shielding, the conversation is mute as their units would be dead before even being able to get into combat with each other. Another added thing Minovski Particles do is destroy any type of radio communication. Valkyries are dead in the water.
However, that aside.....
A gundam is a very powerful unit. You're looking at armor that can withstand bullets, cannons, and a whole lot of different types of ammunition. It looks like Valkyries can use beam weapons later. That would be a problem, but most Gundam series have mobile suits fighting beam weapons all day long, and they do fine, even with barrages from fleets of battleships.
I will disregard fuel as no sane person would fight on low amount of fuel. One would normally return to base to restock well before the need for fuel would arrise, and then return to battle.
Now we'll talk about armaments.... Simply put, Gundams, and to a certain extent, some mobile suits, would have an absurd advantage over a Valkyrie, even being outnumbered. Funnels, Fangs, and Dragoons really make the fighting unfair. They are unrelenting, high mobility, high accuracy weapons that would decimate valkyries I believe. Hi-Nu, Nightingale, Strike Freedom, just to name a few who could use them, although their numbers are only one. Of course, the limitations is that you need a Newtype to use funnels.
And we get into the conversation of Nuclear Weapons... Both sides have them. That's the end really... Use them and blow each other up. Whoever can dodge will win.
Wing Zero has a crazy beam rifle that he can just sweep sideways and probably get a bunch of kills that way...
And now I don't know what I'm talking about.... >////<

Minovski particles are not a natural byproduct of the reactors, but have to be purposefully released by capital ships for the purpose of electronic warfare/jamming. The effect of Minovski particles is twofold: First, they interfere with radio waves, resulting in an effective jamming method. Second, they are used for radiation shielding. They do not, in fact, screw up all electrical circuits like you said. In effectual radio and radar environment is something that Macross units have to deal with already, one example that demonstrate their abilities to deal with such is the electronic warfare variants of valks starting with the VF-1.

The so-called beam weapons in Gundam universe (UC at least) are essentially plasma/direct energy type weapons (the novels do a much better job demonstrating that than the animated series). Now, this kind of direct energy weapon is available to the gen-1 VF-1 with the FAST packs, and become built in with later models. Take away the plot-armor element, gundams are rather susceptible to this kind of damage (as well as missiles if you think about it, anti-armor warheads essentially produce a jet of plasma through shaped charges)

Funnels are only used by select few units, and its not something that's not unheard of in Macross universe. The Ghost AI fighters that's used in Macross Frontier as funnel type weapon (originally introduced in Plus as independent platform) is one such example, and can be used by any fighter with the right software installed. Now, take into account that Valks can shoot down waves of missiles already (first demonstrated chronologically in Macross Zero), its not too much a stretch to think that they are used to shooting down small fast moving targets.

Yeah, I was a rather big fan of both series (earlier gundam at least, I quit the franchise during SEED).
