Has anime ruined your sense of reality? (in dating)

We've all done it, we've all compared the girls we're dating or interested in to 2d girls. I was busy posting in another thread when it hit me: a lot of you have an unusual sense of how a relationship and courting should work. Do you honestly believe a girl isn't perfect if she wont act the same way your favorite tsundere character does? Do you expect any of her reactions to be similar at all to that harem anime you love? Real dating doesn't start when two people meet in the courtyard outside school as you're both late for your first day of high school. Girls won't accept everything you throw at them the second they meet you, you have to ease people into relationships, especially when it comes to our anime/hentai hobby. It's hard for people to accept new things, and anime is no exception. The terms "weeab" and "wapanese" both describe how the general population feel about us, we have to accept that. That doesn't mean every single one of you cant get some normal girl to accept all your hobbies, it simply takes time.

(skip this next part if you don't care about an example)



This story represents a normal relationship, it's how everyone does it. Girls wont magically pop out of the ground, they wont fly in on a broomstick, they aren't from soul society, and don't crash through your roof while fighting giant monsters. You have to put in a small amount of effort to win them over. After that if you honestly want a girl to accept everything about you all it takes is time. I love most of you, you are my people, and as my people I hate to see many of you suffer. When i see someone on the forums say they wont ever get a girl to like them I feel like shaking the fuck out of them, everyone has something the opposite gender will like. Perhaps you're funny, or very artistic, something you have can attract another human being. If you're a person, and have an IQ higher than 85 you have a chance at romance and all it takes is a bit of effort (and some money). I'm no sensei, I've had my share of women problems, I chased after girls far too long, I've been rejected a many occasions and will probably be rejected a thousand more times (if my current gf dumps me at any point), I just want to see some of my fellow brothers have some faith and not give up a chance at romantic happiness.

In a sense yes. I've come to the REALIZATION that after being so into anime and hentai, looking at women now I don't see them as attractive anymore as I did back in highschool.

Yeah this is part of the reason why I don't date. I'm perfectly happy with the way I am right now. I will not change just so I can have some girl be around me. If I find a girl who perfectly suits my every interest I might try dating her but I realize the odds of that happening are practically non-existent.

It's the nature of the beast... we want what we can't have.
Just get with a nerd girl anime nerd like you and be happy with what you got and drink the rest away.

I don't have unrealistic expectations as far as dating goes. I know I won't find a "perfect girl." I don't try to push anime expectations on to girls, I don't expect them to have perfectly round breast, a perfect ass etc. I know that many people will think my hobbies strange and quite possibly disgusting. I've come to accept that. Truth be told, I've never actually dated a girl. I've been interested in woman sure, but actually dating is beyond me. Needless to say a good partner should be accepting of her lovers hobbies and fetishes. So, I don't think I'll ever date someone who can't accept that part of me, its become too ingrained in my daily life. So to sum it all up; I don't expect my woman to be like anime girls, I do however expect them to accept my hobbies and fetishes.

that's the point vowels, I know you dont have much if any experience so you don't know what you're missing. Being with someone is like the greatest drug you will ever take. You wont find the perfect girl, ever. No girl is our perfect girl, they would be imaginary. All the things you think make the perfect girl go right out the window when you find a girl you love. You can say now that you will never date someone who has brown hair and the second you meet that brown haired beauty all your rules just disappear. I don't think you should give up, it's stupid to think it's not worth your time when you really would be much happier with someone with a slight amount of effort. I can probably only say this because I'm with someone right and and would write a substantially different post if I was single but that is unavoidable.

No, it has not ruined my sense of reality in dating. Years ago when I watched anime everyday, I had the twisted notion that I'd meet my true love on the first day of school by being late to class or something similar to that. After expunging anime from my life for a while, I learned to be more realistic in dating and in life. Now, I watch anime every once in a while, but I think not watching it religiously made me keep that sense of reality I gained.

A well-intentioned post. I haven't been in the business of looking for dates in a while now though. Not that I would turn people down if conditions were right etc. I don't have my room plastered in anime memorabilia either, I don't have that kind of room sadly. I would think they would find my musical tastes more disturbing than anything, haha.

yea i believe watching anime has have ruined my sense of reality, sometimes when i see a girl i think is attractive i almost instinctively start playing an anime situation in my head of how we would meet and she would fall for me, but then i realize that it wouldn't happen like that and try to think of ways i could actually get to know this person though being the shy ass person i am when it comes to actually meeting someone i usually don't follow through with my plan.
