Has anime ruined your sense of reality? (in dating)
0
No. Anime doesn't come into my personal life.
Anime is a large hobby of mine, but i don't use it as chat up or talk to people about it apart from my best friend.
I'm an otaku and what not, but I've always been down to reality with a good sense of morals. I hate when people stereotype me as a nerd. I like anime and what not, but i'm not socially stupid, i can talk to girls and don't spend my time wishing girls were like what they are in anime (although it is better).
-edit-
I have a similar room as this guy tbh. Large manga shelf, a couple of figures and wall scrolls. It would be hard to show it to a girlfriend really :/ I have a seperate room, but i can't just hide this one forever. I need to find someone who already knows my 'obsession'.
Like i said before the edit, I have morals and stuff. I hate it if people say weaboo because i do like japan and what not, but i want like them just because they have anime >.> I mean, if people do bring up the war (reaaaaal sorry for saying this, but it's a good example), i would just be honest rather than debating for japan <.<
If i had a girlfriend, everyone's opinion would probably be alot different on me. I've put in effort, alot of effort with a previous girl. I got turned down, but what could I do? It's gotten to the point where i need to search out of school/college and what not because I'm just another person. >:{

It hasnt ruined my sense of reality, Anime and real life are 2 different things completely, most of the time they dont line up together and you meet a girl like you would in an anime, I personally know its hard for nerds like me and other people who love anime to get a girlfriend that is accepting of it right away, but to take a relationship in RL and compare it to one from an anime is just silly

In a sense yes. I've come to the REALIZATION that after being so into anime and hentai, looking at women now I don't see them as attractive anymore as I did back in highschool. this

No. I still find polar bears to be the most satisfying lay. Not really, no. If I feel like putting effort into a relationship, I do. When I don't feel like it anymore, it stops. I expect people to never be predictable, and to lie a lot. When it gets too troublesome, BAM! See ya.

I use to think in the ' i wish i can be in anime harem IRL' logic, but since changing of my meds and the brain in my dick dying from lack of use, i settle on life itself and booze. And kids(fuck you, you sick fucks..). The love of one's love ones is all a man needs... and a little sex doesn't hurt.

waar Shall get my +1 rep of the day for being real and posting an interesting topic. +1
As for the question/statement of the original post. Has it ruined/distorted my sense of reality? I would say probably made it stronger in a lot of cases ; for example I'll be watching a nice romance anime or something of the such, then while watching I'm like *sigh if only it was really like that* Though I might be one of the people you might shake the fuck out, not because of what you said but I think I find it hard for me to start to like another in the romantic sense, maybe it has ruined my ideal sense of a woman or I'm just too picky when it comes to them? I think could be a bit of both.

I have a strong grip on reality, and no form of anime has any influence on what I expect a girl to do for me. Maybe if I knew a girl that liked hentai, then i'd probably ask if she was into some of the things you see in it and go from there, other than that from a dating point of view, no, anime has not ruined my sense of reality.

Yes. I mean, where in the world can I find a tentacle monster to date eh?
Lol, but seriously, no. Fantasy is fantasy, and reality is reality. They cross over sometimes, but on the whole, they're separate.

Not really, no. There are times when I'll day-dream about "What if...?" and so-on, but I know that I'll never, in my lifetime, run into a blue-haired tsundere who enjoys 90% of the things that I do.
I'll probably edit this further later. Right now, I gotta haul ass to work. :D

Nope, not for me.
I can separate reality and fantasy, unlike some people.
But I have seen some females and males that lost themselves into the fantasy of anime and its not pretty...

going to point out that a lot of you may have expectations/standards that are slightly too high due to anime though.

Oh, shit! You're right. I never really cared for what a girl looked like, so long as they liked me, up until I started watching anime...
Holy fuck, my mind is blown...

Curious and Wondering
Nope, thankfully it hasn't.
But I had to admit, for the first date I had in college, I had a few anime scenarios and comparisons running through my head while we were on the date. But I knew in the back of my head they're just wishful fantasy and I can't use them, and kept it that way. I attributed it to my first-time jitterbugs.
The only thing I took from anime is how to be an hour early for dates, to never make the girl wait.

It hasn't really impacted my sense.
I always had very high requirements, even before I started watching anime/VN's/manga/hentai in the earnest.
I understand that people have faults, and I'm okay with that. After all a "perfect" person would realistically be too predictable and boring. But I won't date a girl that falsified her identity card from her highschool just so she could get wasted and roll over in the ditches.
And besides that? Well, I haven't met all that many people recently (irl) and none of them were interesting when it came to dating.
Might have something to do with me being raised in rather quite old-fashioned way, and me still trying to overcome it.
That said, I have never had any "scheme" of how the girl should behave on dates or anything like that, or that they are supposed to accept anything I give them (quite the opposite...I think in fact, trying to find what your other likes through trial-and-error can be potentially pretty fun).

Not really. Sure, it would be nice for a super hot girl with a perfect ass and breasts (as oh so many anime women do) to fall for me, but I recognize that is just a silly fantasy on my part. I don't judge women based on how they compare to anime characters.

TV alone ruins a lot of people's perception of dating and such.
Cause they can't show the long lengths of time relationships and such usually take, they often display the characters jumping right into bed with each other.
And unsurprisingly, many people feel like their relationship isn't moving fast enough. Not necessarily JUST because of it, but it certainly is a factor.
And it's not the only one.
