Have you ever been to an anime convention?

I went for several years as a "hardcore" anime fan without ever attending one because I couldn't afford to fly anywhere for these things, then someone told me that ACEN happens almost within spitting distance of home every summer. I've been an ACEN attendee two years running now.

Yes but only in Thailand. The problem I have with trying to attend conventions that get front page posts is the pesky Pacific Ocean.

I dont honestly see what id gain from the experience.

Yep, quite a few, but the biggest i've ever attended probably Anime Festival Asia 2008&2009. I guess I'm lucky to lived at Jakarta then Singapore, there's quite a lot anime convention, and they don't really cost me on travel, except of course for train fare or gas, but you know what i mean...
They were awesome and fun, dealt awful damage on my wallet tho... I guess it kinda depends on the friends you brought with you... for AFA 2009, I managed to gathered some friends, 5 including me, and we just shamelessly had a blast during the 2 days event... ^^
I still harbor dream of visiting Comiket and Wonfest one day, just thinking of stuffs i can buy there already made my wallet cringe, lol.

I find it strange that there are no conventions in some European countries. Here in Finland there are bunch of conventions and I have attended in 7. Last one was just previous weekend and I actually cosplayed for the first time (Roy Mustang).

I went to Kei-Kon in Victoria, BC twice. I thought it was awesome seeing people show respect to awesome games and anime. Played some Soul Calibur and DDR, bought some awesome merch like Sonic and Knuckles for the sega gen and a FMA wallet.
I would go to more if I had the money. =/

Went to Colossalcon in June aka Tornadocon. It was awesomest 3days ever [besides the tornado scare] Cosplayed and had a blast buying things.I'm going again next year and hope to be in a different hotel because the one we had was set up not to take videogame consoles. I'll be more vocal about what sort of panels should be there, because they were really weak this year -_-

I've attended NDK every year since 2005, and its always a blast. I've cosplayed 3 times, my most recent being the Heavy Weapons Guy from Team Fortress 2 complete with a scale prop of Shasha.
Cosplay does make it more fun in my opinion.

Yes, two so far (well, one in HS but it was tiny and I even forget the name now...).
Been to Another Anime Con in NH last fall, and this summer went to AnimeNext in NJ (saw Fakku there yay!).
I mostly go for the shopping, I'll admit. Got lots of little charms, accessories, and a '98 EVA model at AnimeNext! Also my sweet Slobro shirt. ;)
Really, crowds and rooms full of otaku just don't do it for me, though I do find there are a handful of decent souls there.
It's also cool to see different guests, panels, and workshops. And a few of the cosplays are amazing, though I often don't know where many of them come from as I am sorta picky about what I watch.

yes been to the midlands and london expo. london is better but in recent years it seems that there are to many people there and it gets crowded. it also doesn't help that they normally have another expo going on at the same time. this year it was the cage fighters expo. chavs everywhere.

If yes what did you think? If no, why not?No, because they are always in a country far-far away*.
Edit: I probably wouldn't bother either way. Maybe 1 time out of curiosity if it was in the same city.....that's it.

Yes. I went to Otakon once and it was a sensory overload! Would love to go to another.
