Have you seen anime based off of video games?

Some game to anime translations were good and faithful to their origin, like Tales of the Abyss, but some of them somehow lacked some of the substance the actual game had and skip out or change a lot of important scenes to fit the allowed series run and timed slots, like Xenosaga the Animation, Tales of Eternia and others I may not recall at the moment.

I've really only seen the Devil May Cry anime, and I thought it was pretty good; although I honestly haven't even played any of the games myself

SRW Anime adaptation was good..lots of mecha service..

There were some good ones and some bad ones but I find that they can't really live up to the source material. A good example is Tales of Symphonia since it was only a 12 episode OVA series while the game is like 50 hours if you don't do all that Luna bullshit. To make it into 12 episodes you need to cut out quite a bit of the game.

No one's mentioned Shining Tears X Wind at all? Though I personally didn't like the ending of the anime adaption.

Shining Hearts as well. I never finished the anime cause I couldn't find the last few eps.

And The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky anime OVA. That one I liked.

I can name a few... Devil May Cry, Tears to Tiara, Fate-Stay Night, Chaos;Head, Stein;Gate, these animes were good... Street Fighter, Fatal Fury, these movies were good too...Utawarerumono, meh. But Devil Survivor 2..... UTTER BULLSHIT (the anime of course)..!! X(

Most I've seen were pretty good! My favroite by far is persona 4 the animation

I've seen lots, but I think one of the best was the recent anime adaptation of Idolm@ster, I mean it does a better job of sending the message of "danketsu" (unity) better than the game did. This is one of those cases that taking liberties in an adaptation goes towards a good direction.

Super Robot Wars OG DW/Inspectors are also noteworthy .In regards to Valkyria Chronicles, I think the game was better.

Also, while it's not specifically great, Busou Shinki (series)which obviously focuses on toy tournaments had a very unique anime adaptation in my opinion, since it deviated from the standard tournament formula, and focused on the daily lives of the Shinkis instead.

Corpse Party. Well, I still have to watch the remaining 3 episodes of Tortured Souls, however I saw the 1st episode to be very faithful to the game.

I liked Disgea a lot. I didn't know it was a game till a year later though. I loved playing it so much and then I found 2, and then 3, and then 4. 2 is my favorite though.

Halo Legends was pretty good with all the different styles of animation, and stories

there are some that were pretty good such as danganronpa or how you write it, SOA, black rock shooter stuff like that but I really loved P4 and dead space

I think quality is contigant upon the size off the fan base, but than again xenosaga was really fun, but the anime blew...

Well, Steins;Gate and Higurashi no Naku koro ni (kai) are my favorite animes, so i really liked them...
