There have been cases that after a car accident, people, very, very rarely, can go into a conciouse, death-like state, and the paramedics believe the person to be dead, and when they see that they are an organ donor, will send them to the hospital. Now, if the person survived the trip, and would have the prosedure start pretty fast, the person would be completely conciouse as they would remove their organs, fealing every pain.I first heard of this on 1,000 ways to die, and decided to do some research on it.
Woah, now your'e scaring me. Things like that can happen? I hope I never get operated on while still conscious...
BUT I'm glad everyone has answered that they would donate their organs :D
Apperently, it can happen, but ever since we started that whole donation after death, there has been less that a dozen cases of that. I'm just scared because I tend to have terrible luck :/
That even happens on surgical operations where use multiple anesthethics, somehow on one news i've heard the nurse only used one that numbs the whole body but the mind is awake, imagine getting operated while conscious and feeling pain but your body is numb where you can't even blink to signal that your still awake.(that must be what hell feels like). I remember that my mother said that when she was getting operated to remove her myoma she can clearly hear what the doctors and nurses are saying , she was conscious but luckily can't feel the pain.
Unlike the Troll above me , if my death would mean extending the life of 1 or more people ,why not..hell, i might even consider giving an eye to a blind person(especially if its a young lady who haven't seen the world all her life lol)
Note: i was inspired to say this because i watched Angel Beats!

That would still scare the shit out of me, because even though i can't feel it, i can still hear the doctors cutting me open and taking my organs out. i would probably have a heart attack on the operating table and die.

If I was to die in an accident and there was any possible way my death would save the life of another, religion or not, I would take that chance, because my best friends dad's life was saved by an organ doner. If i could save someone like he did i think that would at least give my death meaning. Thats why i have that little heart printed on my license. Is there a problem with religion not allowing organ donning? My family is very religious and they are all organ donors and told me I should be one...

Aw, too bad you can't do that in real life. I alway feel sympathetic towards blind folks as I used to have a blind friend in High School. I always wanted to describe things to her, but it was awkward sometimes since I didn't want to get too carried away or I was afraid she didn't even want me to describe something without her asking. Unfortunately, if they have never "seen" before, even giving them a brand new pair of eyes wouldn't help. They wouldn't "understand" how to see... it is all very complex and sad but, a person wouldn't be able to understand the sight they are given, which is more tragic then poetic.

what i said was just an example , of course even though sad you can't give an eye to the people who were born blind since the problem there is not in the eye but probably on the brain itself(probably underdeveloped eyes/nerves or anything between those), but people who lost their sight via accident or disease is another thing.Except if its brain damage that directly affects the eyes.
It is more painful to lose something you have than never having it at all.

Making people happy and giving them hope is cool. So when I die, donate everything that can be donated, then cremate. Done.

some cultures or religions believe that the body should be left as completely intact as possible for the afterlife or some churches, the rapture. I dont really get it because if you'll eventually rot away why waste you're body?

I want to, and I know I wont need them anymore, but theyre mine and at at this point, I still want the to come with me. :/ I'll probably change as i get older, but I'm Catholic and I'm supposed to be burried... but i want to be cremated. So we will see.

That is so odd, especially for Christanity. The bible specifically says that people will get brand new bodies during the rapture and when the reach heaven (or else there be a crap load of old people, right?). If anyone from a protestant or catholic following say you need them for the rapture or any other reason, they are just putting out their own ideas instead of being scripturally inspired...

It's good to hear that you would donate an organ at least, even though you're family has a history of diabetes.

Not like I'd need them if I was dead.
My assumption was that put organ donor on your license unless you say not to.
Its been so long since I first filled them initial form to get my license, so I'm not sure if itit was on there or not.
I also try to give blood often, though I'm a little bitch when it comes to needles. Them first time I went to a blood drive, the nurse fucked up and they needles popped out, spraying blood everywhere... I lost a lot more than I planned to give.
I'm also a O + by they way, my blood is good for anyone.
