That made me laugh.

I like rep. I think it is also a good negative (and positive) reinforcement tool. If it didn't affect anyone or people didn't care about getting negative rep, then they wouldn't complain or make threads about it.

There are trolls who will never bat an eye at negative rep, but for the masses of fakku I believe it encourages contributions to the forums (such as in the request section) and discourages asine behavior. I rather give someone a negative rep for starting a new thread - in all capital letters - about why Naruto sucks in the SD section then have to post about why their attempt at communication with others just failed.

I think it's a waste of time -reping people it dosen't do anything to them and some troll acually seek out -rep which is why they troll. I'm for +reping the people who deserve it, the people taking time out of there lives to look for things to share with the Fakku community.

I think you got it backwards there... most users get their rep from comments others found amusing or contributive, but there are quite a lot of uploaders who barely ever get rep.

I've especially seen this in the manga and music upload sections. Videos and VNs get shitloads, but some uploaders and especially translators are barely even recognized for their efforts (note that I'm not talking about me here).

I like the Rep system, as Neko-Chan wrote I believe that it encourages good behavior and contribution to the site since no matter how sad it sounds people will always care about their E-peen. Or at least there will always be people who care about it.

I myself can honestly say that I enjoy getting a +rep for contributing something for the site, since it's a sign that someone appreciate your input, your upload, your joke or w/e, and that's a good thing.

I think the rep system is a wonderful system. It helps me to let other uses know anonymously whether I like or dislike what they think. It's a reinforcement tool that the community uses to boost someones ego, or uses to harass and belittle users for. I don't much care whether it stays or is abolished. People will continue to like or not like what other people have to say.

I just + rep people when I feel like it.

I have already explained it to the man and he apologized for it. Most of my friends go to the same net cafe thus explain why we have same IP.

I think the rep system is fine. It's everyone who is using it differently than the way I want it used who are broken.

Coward, this is the internet! You don't have to be afraid of the others reaction. Why can't you just tell people straight up? Why does it have to be more anonymous? We are all just hiding behind screen names after all!

And to all people who treat the rep system as convenience, or a replacement to communication, why? Why not just PM someone who you think is amazing and tell the user that you think he's amazing or that he's a douche. I feel like some people are just using it out of shear laziness and that ain't cool.

Sarcasm. Satire. I'm pretty sure if you've seen more of my posts, you'd notice I'm pretty vocal about how I feel. This answer wasn't just aimed at you or how you feel about rep. This is aimed at any one and everyone uses the system to abuse other people. I personally really don't care if the system is there or not. I'll keep using it to rep posts I like and to de-rep posts I don't like. What irks me is the fact that people complain about stupid shit like this. Kind of like this thread. The only times I've ever complained about getting rep are when I gain it for stupid shit, it makes me kind of wonder what's going on.

BUT it isn't effective at all! It may be efficient but to what end?

The only message i receive when i get - rep is that there is a douche out there who is veiling his opinion behind a minus sign that holds no meaning.

Don't you see how foolish it is to communicate through pluses an minuses? Have we as a society deteriorated to this?

Forums were so much better during that brief period when rep was absent.

Well, if you REALLY want rep to reflect contributions to Fakku, how about leaving only +rep on, and only in the uploads section? Maybe also in the Feedback section.

That way, no rep drama, and the "incentive" is still there.

I approve, and let's not forget the request section (though most users there are below the 15 post requirement)
