Yeah rep never did serve much purpose, It just makes one look bad or good

Every idea presented in this thread has been mentioned a thousand times; you can continue to suggest we remove it, and you can continue to suggest only positive rep but Jake has heard them both so until you can get enough users to support one idea and bring it to him properly these threads pretty much are a waste of space and good ideas.

I can give you guys advice on how best to reach him but other than that we mods don't have much say in the matter.

We need a poll of some sort.

you need more than a poll, a poll wont convince Jake that the current system is broken(it might add about %5 validity to anything you bring him).

I think the rep system will still be on as long as Jake likes it.

Well that's obvious, but to get the general consensus of how the community feels, a poll is at best right now the only means where we can show that.

True.. there isn't currently anything better.. <unless you mean going to where Jacob lives and knocking on his door then presenting it to him along with coffee.

if a few users would prepare a nice long post about the pros and cons with as much evidence and testimony (from users and mods) along with a poll you have a much greater chance of success.

But we all know that's not going to happen. It would be nice and all, but let's be realistic.

This is pretty good evidence for the con side lol.

The -reps keep coming, last I checked he had -10 for that post.

I stopped reading the Twilight saga at the Eclipse series, it starts to bore me down at that point.

Can't say that I like the story but some of the story's ideas intrigued me.

Well the way I see it, rep is good, shows you actually might have contributed something, if not to the community, something that lit up someone's day, and they thought it good enough to rep you for it...

Good Example would be Klown, he contributed ALOT, and I think removing the rep system would kinda... sorta... in a way null everything he has done... then again maybe not, as long as people dont forget what people like him have done for the site, but then AGAIN there are always new users who usually dont know what to do and I think at least the rep system would show who they SHOULD and SHOULDNT listen to when asking things...

Cuz to be honest I would ask Klown for something rather than [z] or prince w/e...

Just do what other forums do. Give him a custom title under his name.

So like instead of "fakku elder", give him a unique one like "the awesome one" or something. This means that he stills stands out as one that has contributed a lot to the community. It also might give an incentive for other people to contribute more for their own personal custom title.

By April 23rd I will collect all the arguments in this thread without repetition for cons and pros. And if you have any additional testimony you would like me to include, feel free to send me a pm with it.

It's probably going to be in the form a Word document.

ouch. i looked at the link. i must say, those who -rep'd are just assholes. all that for being honest and expressing an opinion? i'd not be surprised if that member left and never came back. shame on all who -rep'd. i'm going to spend all my rep on that user for a long time(atleast until he's back to 0). i say he should get +rep just for being honest. i'd even go so far as to say that most of the -rep was from closet cases who won't admit to them selves that they are gay. me thinks they doth protest too much. i digress. my point is, you'll never get people to be honest and open so long as a few jack asses abuse that -rep power. i really don't care about my rep that much, though i admit it does feel nice to see someone cared enough to spend their single rep that day on me. and i think the amount of -rep the linked poster got would probably make me leave and never look back. bastards. now i'm all worked up. i need to go hug my dogs.
