The 5-Second Rule
Do you follow the 5-second rule?

I generally don't eat anything off the floor, unless I really love it and it's mostly dry and unabsorbant.

Hahahaha, it really depend on the surface is clean maybe i follow the 5s rule...It has been proven many times, that a "clean floor" or not, you'll still get bacteria on your food.

Depends on the breed and size of the dog, and it not the chocolate that the problem it the caffeine. At least what the dog whisperer said.Nah, it's the theobromine that gets confused for the caffeine effects and it is that which poisons dogs.
Anyways. It also depends on the type of chocolate. Dark chocolate is what is most likely going to poison animals rather than say milk chocolate because it contains way more chocolate than milk chocolate.
This. And I mostly eat the good stuff, which means 70% and above dark chocolate. My doggy would be so dead from eating that.

I don't follow the rule. Even if it's only been 5 seconds on the floor, it's still covered in all kinds of shit.

So basically would you put something in your mouth if you KNEW it was dirty?Epic innuendo is epic.
on topic:
I recall mythbusters doing something on this that showed that the time the food is on the ground is irrelevant, and that something on the ground for 2 seconds or a minute doesn't make much of a difference. But as for if I would eat it, that depends on how good or wet the food is. (I won't eat wet food that is dropped on the ground)

No, I don't follow the 5-second rule. I can't eat something knowing that it's dirty. I'm really particular about the food I eat and cleanliness is a high priority.

I do, but only in places that I feel have a clean floor[like my house or a friend's house], but if I drop a fry on the floor in someplace like McDonald's...
I sweep that shit up underneath my seat, never to be seen or spoken of again.

Once again it depends.
But if the floor is reasonably clean, the 5 minute rule applies.
Food is food.

i usually eat it within the five minute rule but then again animals eat food off the floor despite how dirty it is and most of the time are still perfectly healthy.
In my opinion it think it's a social trend to be so conservative with cleanliness.

No. Can't say I follow it. Every time I drop food on the floor it goes in the trash regardless of the condition of the surface or what type of food it was. Bugged my dad a few times because of persistence. Countless times I've dropped fruits or vegetables on the floor and I throw them away instead of washing them off and using them.
I had a friend that had the fifteen-second rule. That annoyed me. I don't know how much crap he ate off the school floors. <.

I eat food made of bacterias...french cheese is not only bacterias, it's mold. And it's really good :p But I agree that I won't eat anything that fell on the floor if I can see the dirt or hair or whatever. Else, I just blow on it a bit and I eat it. I think I ate way worse than just a chips or two that fell on the floor >
