Torrenting is bad, boys n' girls!

I don't think it's the ISPs that want to send them out they're being forced by various copyright companies that seem to think fax machines and old grannies are pirates.
Also torrenting is not a bad thing it's the content that's being downloaded that causes problems :p

I remember watching this thing a few days ago on AoTS, they where discussing the fact that the FCC wants to regain control of the internet from the big evil companies in the US. From what I believe, they will manage it like how they manage phones aka. WE LEAVE IT ALONE. So technically, the FCC wants Net Neutrality to return.

Where was that long and descriptive post I wrote up about this? [...]https://www.fakku.net/viewtopic.php?p=1111395#1111395
Even a private tracker can't protect you when it is infiltrated. And on Rapidshare/Megaupload you only get a portion of the torrented material, it's a good alternative nonetheless, though.

Use Peerblock/Peer guardianAn IP filter list for your country can be effective to a certain extent. But the real kicker is VPN.
Whether it's Mainland Chinese or P2P Sharers, VPN from logfree companies is the way to go imo. Though just in case, your p2p app wants to make special connections outside the vpn one, it's probably a good idea to disallow any connections besides vpn connections (packet filtering like iptables).
And with a logfree vpn company, the Axis of Copyright Evil doesn't get to you. Btw most vpn services log, though.

Use Peerblock/Peer guardianI do. Didn't do shit apparently.
But it's all said and done. I just won't download South Park anymore, it's all they cared about.

Haha, My country last year made some stupid law thing about monitoring everything everyone does on the internet, to catch out illegal activity. Bwahahah~ Good luck NZ! I have only had warnings from my University, but they connect our laptops to their network, so any illegal activity and we get automactically get shut off the net. I even got shut off for being on a website that had LOTTO results!!!!

I had my internet connection turned off because I torrented a PSP game that had released sometime in 2009. Gave my Internet provider a call and they said that I was doing some illegal stuff. The next day I had Internet again. But they told me not to torrent again. I took that as a warning so I learned my lesson. Don't bootleg anything thats been recently put out on the market.

If so that's probably why you got caught those torrents are trap torrents that copyright enforcement companies use to get people's ip addresses and inform their ISP of their wrong doing.
Though I have to say there's a huge ethical debate about it, as it could be grounds of entrapment.

Hmm, probably some nice legal loophole in there somewhere, or perhaps not and they just took it upon themselves to break the law, similarly to a lot of cable companies regarding torrents. *coughComcastcough*

I got an email from my ISP about a year ago for downloading a bad cam of an even worse movie. Scared the shit out of me, and I didn't torrent anything for a good while after that.

Have you ever got a letter in the mail from your ISP saying you downloaded something illegally? I did today. I'm not saying any specifics because I don't want ANOTHER letter, but needless to say I have to delete a lot of stuff now.Have you ever had this happen, Fakku?
Why delete? Use a external HD.

Or just use something like Recuva to bring it back.
