What are your thoughts on wearing school uniforms.

I would love to wear a school uniform. Anime has really brainwashed me into liking them. But my main reasoning behind my views is because I am totally apathetic towards [my own] "fashion."
In middle school through part of 9th grade, I wore nothing but all black, or green cargo pants w/ w/e top. Usually a sweatshirt no matter how hot a day.
After that, it was all blue jeans and white long sleeves. At the very end of senior year, i started putting t-shirts, polo-shirts, dress shirts over my long sleeves. But all fairly plain. I hate those shirts with skulls or guitars or tribal tats or w/e all over them. Product names just suck out loud.
School uniforms would be awesome to have and wear.
all public school, if it need be known.

My high school was uniform mandatory. At first I hated it, but came to like it actually. It takes a lot of trouble out of getting ready in the morning!
It doesn't save those with low social status, however. Social status is still very apparent in how you accessorize the uniform, and in your personality and actions of course. I can still label someone as a druggie, a cheerleader, an anime nerd etc even in a uniform. Easily.
It was very expensive. Buying them was also a gigantic pain in the ass, because our uniform supplier had a weird system at the uniform store.
It did not make me feel school pride. Our uniform was very unflattering if you wore it as intended. Of course, most girls sexed it up with lacey undershirts, skinny lookalike pants, and tighter fits.
It also created an annoyance for teachers, because every day they'd have to pick on kids for uniform checks. If the vice principals walked in and saw kids out of uniform, the teacher would get reprimanded and the student would have to change. So teachers tended to be anal about uniforms. You couldn't wear a non-school sweater over the school shirt, even in dead winter. Can't wear shoes that aren't completely black -- some kids had to Sharpie over their white Nike logos on otherwise pure black shoes, for Christ's sake. etc etc.

It prevents 14-year-old girls from dressing like Paris Hilton- but only at school. No guarantee on stopping malignant behaviour (and likely promotes it, during them rebellious years).

Ahhh. . . highschool. . .
I got my education in the philippines, in a private school. Wearing the uniform is really nice and comfy, and that it looks japanese like. But I hated the long-skirts girls have to wear, even nopan can't fix that.

Hey, in middle school ours were just below the knees, but that doesn't stop girls from cropping them or rolling them up. Though at the time I didn't do that, as I was in a punk (and not sexy) rebellious phase... ;-;

Individuality is thrown out the window, but I guess the stress of having to look nice everyday is gone too.

I once wore school uniforms when I was in middle school until I moved out to where there were no school uniforms. The ones I used to wear was alright but quite mediocre. When I see some nice design for school uniforms I want to wear them.

I loved wearing one, I loved modifiying it 8D Though, In NZ all our uniforms are dull, but I would wear Lolita-fy it as much as I could, petticoats, pigtails, knee-high socks with lace, mary janes.. I wish I read through our school rules better, so I could bend the rules more T_T

the boys wear white polo with black slacks and shoes...
the prefect stands at the door eying the students.....
for boys:
if she caughts you wearing a printed white or a colored shirt inside of that white polo (the polo is semi transparent).... OFF TO HER OFFICE!
different colored shoes? OFF YOU GO!
and after all the bitching she will rant... you will be fined, then warned if you do not wear the uniform, you will not be permitted entry....

Ha, sounds like middle school for me... no colored nail polish, no wearing shirts under uniform, etc...
We all liked to make ours more fun by wearing funny boxer shorts (over underwear too, DUH) and fun socks.

The schools I went to did not have a uniform policy. I've always wanted to wear one.. Mainly because I don't need to worry about what to wear each day.

I like wearing school uniforms, or rather, I liked seeing my female classmates wear them.
Throughout my younger days in the education system, all of us had to wear school uniforms. However, the white blouses of my female classmates gave me something to look forward to everyday, even more so on wet, rainy days. The translucent material enables one to tell what kind of lingerie (lace, colour, etc) they are wearing. :D
Of course, the physical education attire (some call them bloomers) enhances the physics of movement.
