i never said it wasn't or that japanese was harder to learn. i just said that the different chinese dialects can be seen as different languages while japanese is one language with three alphabets. i know chinese is hard, it's why i haven't even attempted to learn it.
and japanese was hard for me to try and learn; the hirigana and katakana what not, and kanji wasn't even introduced at this point. so just going by what i know, i was saying japanese was hard. i don't see what's to be pwned about that.
Hmm, I don't think Raze was attacking you or anything, just ponting out that as far as languages go, Japanese is easy relative to other languages. And to avoid any other confusion, my post wasn't trying to attack either, was just to confirm Raze's comments on Japanese and Chinese based on my experience learning Chinese and friend's experiences learning Japanese and/or Chinese in combination with other languages.
And as a side note about the 3 systems in Japanese, you could kind of compare it to Chinese characters which often have simplified and traditional versions(which sometimes look nothing alike). Simplified isn't really any easier to learn, just takes less strokes and therefor less time to write. From my understanding, most places(including PRC) use simplified now but Taiwan still sticks to traditional characters for whatever reason.
More on topic, I've been learning to write simplified, but am expected to read both. I'll probably visit mainland China periodically throughout my life, so simplified is more practical for me. I've been to Taiwan but probably wont be headed back except for maybe once since my girlfriend(she's from the mainland) would like to see it someday.
