was referring to this, not you or raze when i mentioned the "pwned" stuff.
did either of you know an asian launguage already? knowing an asian language beforehand, something like korean, seemed to make learning japanese easier. i had a couple korean kids in my class and they caught on quicker. i think it's because the sentence structure is sort of reversed in japanese and korean and it's harder for people who solely know english to adjust to that.
is it like that for chinese too? i mean, the sentence reversal and stuff.
Ah, I see, I thought you took Raze's comment harshly somehow. Makes more sense now.
As Raze mentioned, he speaks all kinds of stuff.
I only spoke English when starting Chinese(aside from a couple years of Spanish back in middle school and highschool). Of the people I was referring to that have learned Japanese as well as Chinese and/or other languages, they hadn't learned any other languages prior aside from French(I think, don't remember for sure) in one guy's case. There was a Korean girl in one of my Chinese classes, but I don't think the Korean background helped her at all.
Chinese(at least Mandarin, I can't speak for the other stuff) doesn't really have clearly defined grammar. Most Chinese people I've asked about it just said there isn't any grammar in Chinese. There are some specific sentence structures you can use and the order of words can completely change the meaning in some cases, but for the most part I would agree that Chinese doesn't have grammar like other languages do. From my understanding, Japanese has a lot of very specific grammar. Knowing other Asian languages probably wont help with learning Chinese aside from being used to using a character system. I'm not really sure how much other Asian languages would help learning Japanese, other people on here can probably answer that though.
