Whoa a new OS in the making already? Didn't 7 come out last year or something?
Two or so years ago. It would appear that Microsoft learned the wrong lesson from Vista and 7. Vista was a train wreck, hence the need to get 7 out as quick as they did.

The current Win8 is just Win7 with a few extra lines of code from what I've heard.
That is what Windows 7 is to Vista. Again, another way Microsoft is misinterpreting the "success" of 7. Vista needed to be fixed, hence the need to rush 7 which "fixed vista" and they changed the appearance slightly to make people less leery about it. You'd think that they'd actually wait four or five years and try to make some major improvements to the OS and better yet, how it runs. Surely they can come up with a way to make an OS that's capable of running well at a bare-bones level and operate fine with 2GB (or maybe even 1GB) of RAM, but can really shine when you have 3+ GB of RAM and a decent graphics card.
