Windows 8

Actually it's not bad they're expanding the UI. From the looks of it you don't have to use the touch style interface some of the extras like being able to have stuff 'snap' to the corner of the screen seemlessly to me seems great and possibly useful since I love to multitask.

I can see great potential for the new UI specially for media PCs, it's much easier to use this style of interface when you're sitting on your couch than using the normal windows desktop.

I really don't get why there's so much hate in this thread they're barely even done working on Windows 8...

From my experience though, when Microsoft gets hooked on a fad they tend to overlook everything else

I think Windows 8 is terrible.

PCs now run new OSs every 2 years. All Microsoft can throw at us now is more tacked-on features that we really don't even need. The tech demo looks so over-glorified by the speaker; I personally couldn't care for the touch interface. I just want a machine and Operating System that works.

Windows 8 is really geared for tablets I suppose, but hey that's not a bad thing for wtab owners. Windows 7 is pretty meh when it comes to touch screens, and windows tablets are quite useful out in the field (much more than say, an ipad when you can get an Acer iconia w500 for the same price).

Microsoft is obviously trying to use Windows 8 get a stronger foothold into other markets such as the portable devices market such as tablets, and other touchscreen devices, as that it is very much possible that is where the future of home computers since as the rate of advancement in that area is much faster than that of desktop and laptop PCs, while Windows Phone 7 addresses the smartphone market. Apple and Google are much further ahead than Microsoft in this area and must act this direction to stay competitive in the future, hence why this looks like a very casual OS. Unless they have some crazy feature like being able to play Xbox games (there's actually a rumor about that floating about), or DirectX 12, I'm going to ignore Windows 8.

Windows shouldn't go working on something new when they still got a lot of stuff to fix with Windows 7

All it looks like is Win7 with a addon such as Media Center. No reason for me to make a switch. However, it looks a lot more promising for mobile devices.

The "win7-phone feature" is an option and can be disabled.
Once disabled it looks similar to Win7 but the titles of programs are centered, and a few new features are tossed in.

Overall I personally may upgrade, but only after the first Major kinks to come with the new OS are fixed.

Soon they will announce DirectX 12 and say that it's exclusive to Windows 8 users.

Is that the version where everything is fixed by turning it off and on again?

yes a version for the common man instead of one for the advanced user.

I was just suggesting that there should be a Advanced Class, a Business class, and a Home class. but actually have them designed differently unlike they are now.

Xp Service pack 3, till i get a computer with decent parts. But for now, xp is in the lead by a long way ;D

I don't see the need for windows 8 when windows 7 and xp are all good.

IMHO, Industry needs to release every project they do... Be it finished or not...
Lets face it, there is no perfect system... People would demand much more...

Why stop at 7 when there could be 8? who would benefit? Us? No, Them... Why? we are so called guinea pigs (No offense), Its us they need to project every hardwares/softwares they make...

HOW? you use the release, you see bugs and glitches, they fix it, by what way? patches, add-ons, etc... Good idea? some may agree but optimists think the other way around... You see why would they make a new system when you could apply it to the present one? What comes to your mind?

PROFIT... a simple marketing strategy... Who cares if there is a problem about the previous system. "Programmers" make systems, not to criticize...

Hope we learn a lesson today...

I might get windows 8 if the rumor about playing 360 games with it is true.

It's been almost two years since the release of Windows 7. I see nothing wrong with Microsoft releasing a new version of their OS every two years. Computer hardware, devives and UI design change a lot over two years.

A friend of mine have been playing with the Windows Developer Preview of Windows 8. So far he said he is impressed. They've made a lot of changes on it already at this early stage. It's still pre-beta but running very well. He made a video of it running on several different machines alongside with Windows 7. Check it out!

I tried it. They suck dick. I'm happy with my Windows 7. Got rainmeter. Happy ending for me.
