I might sound lame by saying this, but why buy something that only has a few features different from Windows 7? I'm fine with my Windows 7 and perhaps won't buy something that has been made so rapidly. I'LL WAIT FOR BIG CHANGE like in 20 years or so when vehicles become legal to fly around :|
This is like asking the normal consumer with an iPhone 5, "Why did you buy the iPhone 5 when functionality wise, it's pretty much the same as a 4S?". The answer will be, "I wanted the newest stuff". It is human nature to want more than what you have now, even if the change is small. And I'm sorry, Windows 8 is not a big change? You probably have never used it.
The obvious change is the Modern UI, while power users can choose programs to get rid of it, normal users will probably just deal with it. There is no longer any Aero. They've now given us syncing capabilities, and Storage Spaces, a redesigned Task Manager, improved startups/shutdowns, more performance friendly to budget hardmore, and the addition of Ribbon UI onto Windows Explorer. I feel thats plenty of change already. Maybe not all good change, but change regardless.
