20 years or suicide?
Which option would you choose?

Of course, in the thread, nobody really thought of the clone as anything more than a tool for sex.And this is why 4chan fails, and fails hard. It's possible that the clone might be the only salvation one can get in a situation as described. Unless you consider talking to your captors, which I doubt you can do, then the clone is only other person besides yourself to interact with.
Very true. A person can easily go insane without any human contact. I wonder how long that takes. Five years? Five months? Five weeks?

I'll choose door "a" and go the Oldboy route. Now, where's my trusty hammer?
You'd still go a bit insane talking to the clone though. You could have conversations with it, but you'd have to tell it what to "say" back to you. Just doing that seems a bit crazy...
Also, could the clone be given directions to carry out 20 years later?

Hmm...
I would choose Room A, simply because if i start to realize that I'm drifting into madness after a period of time in the room i can end my life by simply biting my tounge off. I don't mean this in a 'Ha ha loophole motherfucker" sort of way, but in a "They really couldn't stop me" kind of way. I'd be able to do it without giving my captors time to staunch the bleeding, plus if they put something my mouth to prevent me from biting through my tounge, they would have to remove it eventually, such as when i need to eat. The only problem is, a mad man rarely believes he is mad, so i might not ever realize i was going insane, but, better safe than sorry!(obscure Left 4 Dead reference)

Hmm let's see.... I'd choose room A in an instant, and for the clone thing? That's just gold icing on a cake, I'd choose between Lisianthus or Saber or Moka, sure, possiblity of banging has appeared into my mind.
But, I'd have her help me keep my room clean or play games with me. Honestly, it doesn't seem all that bad, Fresh Air is more of concern for me. I barely interact with people in first place, it's just matter chilling it out. I can't bring myself to kill the clone ><unless><><><

When I saw this question asked on 4chan, the person who started the thread explained specifically that the clone couldn't express any emotions. It could do physical things, so if you told it to do sign language, it would, but it wouldn't participate in a conversation. You could just tell it what to sign, and then it'd sign it.Yea what ShaggyJebus said and you will not be able to request for the latest newspapers etc. No contact from the outside world.

I'd gladly choose room A. I think 20 years away from people is more than a fair deal in exchange for getting to request someone like Index and start bending reality to my whims (especially considering I could certainly request many people who could in a variety of ways make me immortal without any need for them to be able to think).

They tried an experiment like that to see how important social contact was, and after deeming one person psychologically able to go through with the experiment, they locked her away in an apartment with nothing but a calender to count the days, a few pieces of furniture, supplies of food and the camera to record her feelings. Thing is, there was nothing remotely resembling a human in that room, so they could accurately judge it.
If I remember correctly, she started off quite well, and after a week got pretty depressed, during the second week she couldn't sleep and went a little crazy, and after almost three weeks ended the experiment, breaking down in tears after she got into the street and could see people.
If you factor in the clone and the luxury of getting anything you ask for in exchange for all human contact for 20 years, it might be possible, but still not likely. I'd love to do that though, as long as I still had good ol' TV and internet (though I suppose they would cut off all ways of communication through it).

3 weeks... take away the internet and computer from me and i wouldn't last 1 day.
Btw who are They that are experimenting, i hope they are not extraterrestrial.
Ok in all seriousness, it's interesting that we can't live in isolation without going insane. Adding game and ever changing clones would probably last me for few months, i'd probably go mad after that.

20 years is a loooong time. But 20 of having whatever I wanted is a little better...
So I would go with option 1, and my reasons are the obvious. Even if I do go insane, I would still go with A.
However option 3 is veeeeeery tempting. 8)

room A
btw, what happens if you have kids with one of the clones?
no internet...
that would rather suck, i mean, how would you even know what the currently available games and other stuff are? though i guess you could request a couple of magazines that keep you up on that...
i wonder though what kinda person i would be upon release (probably utterly mad, treating everyone and everything i meet just like the dolls they gave me to play with)...then again, i wonder if release would be what you want then anyway, could you even live in the normal world after that?
one part of it is although my utopia though, having all my needs sated without having to work...except for the need for recognition...
btw, is there sun light at some part of it? could i have a garden?

You will not be able to keep up to date with the latest games. Basically you can request for anything that was in existence when you were sent into the room.
I'm going to have to go with a no on having children with the clones and having a garden. The room would be your standard science fiction room but you can request for a bed/table what have you...
You will be able to get fresh air etc but you will not be able to see the sun.

20 years of watching anime, reading books, playing games, eating exceptionally well and having my every whim taken care of, all the while having someone by me that won't judge any of my actions? Wait- let me just think that over again.
Honestly, it would be a tough choice. I probably would eventually choose room A, but I'd think about it for quite some time. As far as the clone is concerned, although it can't show any actual emotion, you could still teach it what to do when a certain event happens - such as to embrace you when you look sad, or to make a pouting face when you're teasing her - even if it's not true emotion, you'd still be able to read something akin to it on the clone's face if you teach it well. I can imagine growing extremely attached to the clone after a while. The worst part of this experiment would probably be losing the clone once it's over. By that time I'd be used to that clone being with me 24/7 (because I probably wouldn't request a new clone since I'd grow attached to the first one) and being without her would be absolutely unimaginable. It would be akin to who I am right now losing, I don't know, I guess the only thing that's with me 24/7 is air.
On the other hand, what happens if I go insane and start resenting the clone? Oh, that's right, kill it and order a new one. =D Never mind that that though.
You did mention that the room's three time's bigger than a regular room? I'd probably also request something that I could use as a 'wall' and 'doors' so that I could actually separate room as if it were an apartment. I think something that small could help keep a lot of sanity, since I could escape the clone if I needed some time alone. I'd also request a laptop and start creating stuff. Maybe I'd start drawing? I could write a book.
Come to think of it, it wouldn't be all that bad at all. Although being watched by your kidnappers nonstop for 20 years might have some pretty terrible result on your psyche.

Damn, that's rough. Did they not let her have any way to entertain herself? No books or crossword puzzles or anything like that?
I think if a person had some way to keep themselves occupied, they could last at least a month.

so you cant order a subscription to one (or several) of the gaming magazines, not even newspapers? that really sucks. what about games that where in development when you get there, or every once in a while you could simply request the next thing, like as of now its nfs 11 i think, so in a year you might request nfs 12, if they dont have it, just wait another half year...
what about mods?
i guess no pets either, right?
