Abortions - Right or Wrong?

I guess you can say I'm semi-pro-abortion. I think it's okay only if the fetus has not developed a brain yet to have conscious thought. Catch it soon enough and it's all good.
Scientificly (or how u spell it) it would still be kinda ok then. It depends on what you count as consciousness. A baby, even after it is born will not know or feel much else than hunger and tiredness in the first 3 month of its life, and is not able to have any conscious thoughts or anything like it for a long time. But then again, you could also say that when it has the shape of a baby, you say it's conscious.

it's nothing more than a parasite feeding off of the host body until it can become self-aware. Which would be the point where aborting it would be downright wrong.Very Dr. House of you Nikon.
If I didn't see the world in Black/White then I would be inclined to agree with you. I still feel aborting for the sake of convenience isn't a good reason for it to begin with. The entire subject as Shaggy has stated is a large gray area which doesn't lend itself to my personal outlook. It is easier to just say no abortions due to personal principals regarding human rights.

I guess it's all in how you define convenience. I agree that people should have to live with whatever mistakes they make, but there's absolutely no reason that a life should have to be brought into the world where they have to suffer the consequences of their parent(s) poor decision-making. And even then, like I said, with the adoption/foster system as fucked up as it is and with the number of people that end up in terrible places (drugs, crime, etc) because of it, it's not really something you want to set someone up to live. Granted, there are good foster/adopted parents out there but overall it's just not a good system.
Just my 2¢

Wouldn't the obvious solution be to encourage the foster system to change? The hoops people have to jump through in order to even adopt would give a glimpse that only those with good intentions would go through? The hoops are supposed to filter out all the less than desirable from acquiring a child. Now, you may be speaking of the orphanages and various other methods used to "hold" a child until they are adopted. Those could probably use a good sweep to clean up the mess.
If the foster system was revamped would you consider changing your stance?

Under all circumstances? Even if the mother were to die if she continued with the pregnancy? Even if the baby had no chance of survival outside the womb (born w/o a brain, Trisomy 21, etc.)? What if the case of the 9-year-old in Brazil getting raped by her stepdad and getting pregnant with twins happened there? She got an abortion because all three (twins and her) would die if she continued with it. Are you saying she would just have to die along with the babies?
These aren't questions against you, these are serious. Because most countries do have exceptions for at LEAST the life of the mother.

well I think abortion is wrong because I think it's like killing a person. But its most of the time up to the girl to decide if she wants it or not. Also sometimes in some cases abortions are the only option. But thats just my opinion.

its up to the girl. if she was stupid enough to fuck with out a condom or any type of protection what-so-ever and ends up pregnant she can choose if she wants to get an abortion. I know if i knocked up my girlfriend i would want her to get an abortion because im to immature to even think about starting a family.

One would think that would be the obvious solution, but all that would cause is more children without homes because people would be too lazy to do all that work. There are tons of people that do the foster or adoption program just for the money. If the world wasn't full of people like this, I might consider changing my stance but there is still the other bit I was talking about.

Isn’t a shitty life better than no life at all? One of my friends was born into a poor family and went though foster care. With this system he would have been killed and I never would have met one of my best friends. If the systems so bad why don’t we just kill all kids in it right now? Well because that’s wrong because they have a life and life is precious no matter how much it sucks.

Killing a person over the fact that you made a bad choice is so fucking wrong. If you take the responsibility to get a girl pregnant or get pregnant yourself; you should be able to take the responsibility of taking care of the child you brought into this world. Lives are too important to leave up to two drunk high schoolers.

There is no point in putting up arbitrary reasons as to when abortion is acceptable or not, not by law anyway, what an individual thinks is fine, but don't try to spin some complicated web around when abortion is okay or not because then it will turn into a legal mess.
I'm pro-choice, and that means regardless of the situation. I wouldn't think anything wrong with asking her to get the abortion if she was fine with it. *shrugs*

I don't like abortion, at all. But with that said, I am pro-choice. It is entirely up to the one who is pregnant, not the ideals of those around them that it will not effect in any way. Plus, what would be the point of the child being born if it's mother and/or father did not want it anyways?

Well what about the child why don’t they get a choice in the matter. I guarantee if you asked any person if they would have been better off aborted they’d say no. Really just think would you want to have been aborted.

You can't ask an infant whether or not it wants to be aborted or not. Would you rather the mother throw the child in a dumpster or throw it to the failing orphanage industry?
Edit: Realized that could come off asshol-ish and cold-hearted, but I'm not trying to be rude in my question.

I can honestly say I do know people who wish they would have been aborted, or should I say, knew people. Those people are no longer with us because they committed suicide due to their bad childhoods of being neglected and beaten. It's not that the child doesn't deserve to live, it's that a life like that isn't worth living.
When the mother wants to abort them, their only real possibilities as a child are being neglected or beaten, or in some cases both. Being thrown out like Tsurayu said, being put into an orphanage for a CHANCE of finding a family, then maybe just ending up in another shitty abusive/broken family. Or, in some cases, having their own life cut short by their own mother.
I guarantee you, if you could ask the baby if they wanted to be aborted or not, and let them see that is how their life would go before they made the decision, most of them would choose to be aborted.

First not really a little die hard but you know. Oh and no I wouldn’t want a kid I a dumpster but I don’t mind an orphanage at least their alive and that’s better than dead.

it's that a life like that isn't worth living. First no life isn’t worth living all life is precious and should be treated as such! Sorry for the angry post but I have a big problem with statements like that.

I have a friend form a horrible family that went into foster care and had a horrible childhood. Yet he’s not about to kill himself he has a great life now a good job, and is succeeding in college. Just because you had a bad childhood doesn’t mean your life will always suck so bad. Many people with horrible childhoods grew to have great fulfilling lives. There is a reason we don’t allow suicide in the U.S. What if a mom said I killed my son because his life sucked is that fine? Abortion is the same thing just done before birth.
Also what about people who abort even know their kid’s life would be great.

I'm not saying all people commit suicide. But with how harsh school is nowadays, ontop of having such a horrible home to go to after school, it could drastically increase the chances of it. But yes, you are right, people with horrible childhoods can grow up to have good lives. I myself am one of them, but I knew many people who had bad childhoods and ended up committing suicide (13 people to be exact.)
I myself would have joined them if I hadn't met my girlfriend, and luckily I ended up turning my life around after that. But there are still the other things I mentioned other than suicide that still factor in here.

Also what about people who abort even know their kid’s life would be great.I honestly do not see how you could KNOW their life would be great. But if they would be loving to their child, or had a family set up that they knew would be, I would be entirely against aborting that child.
If I am coming off as a dick, I do not mean to. I just tend to a lot on forums without really meaning to.
