Aliens...do you believe in them?

There are extra-terrestrial life-forms, that can be said for certain. After that its conjecture, though I do agree that with how many planets there are orbiting habitable stars within the life belt, there has to be something. Probability says that the events that led up to the formation of a habitable Earth were an average of 26 Million to 1. There's a lot more than 52 Million habitable planets, so mathematically, there has to be one somewhere.

I believe that there is other life forms in the universe. When you look at how small the planet earth is compared to even our on own galaxy there Has to be other life forms out there maybe, lower intelligence or maybe a more advanced intellect. But regarding about another life form visiting our planet is kinda preposterous, though I wont disclose the fact... They could come anytime if they wanted.

what are the chances Earth is the only planet with life in the Universe? they descovered a planet 20 light years away.. its blue and green and has gravity.. i'd expect that to be going through stages of evolution right now ^^"

One thing is sure: We NEED to invent FTL travel, or it won't even matter if there's anything out there, because we'll never reach it.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that one; accomplishing things that are, in all conventional senses, and most inconventional ones, impossible, takes time.

And if someone is capable of communicating with us, this means they've found a means of FTL, because with radio signals, it would take hundreds, if no thousands of years to exchange a simple greeting between planets

Agreed. It just isn't fathomable that Earth is the only M-class planet with life on it, nevertheless any other class of planets that might be able to support life.

So many people say that aliens are just a myth. With such a vast universe, are we really to believe that the earth's situation has happened only once in a space we can't even begin to calculate the size of?

Well, moving faster than light isn't the only way moving an object great distance, some would say. Although those means are equally impossible. Well, some of them might be more possible, but still just... physically absurd.

Basically it boils down to whether the universe really is infinite. At this point, cosmologists are still divided on whether we don't really dwell on a finite space-time plane after all.

If the universe is indeed infinite, then extraterrestrial life is pretty much a given, due to the laws of probability.
If the universe is however finite, the chances of there being extraterrestrial life suddenly become abysmally, absurdly small, to the point where I'd say, nah, there's no aliens out there.

Meh as I said in my previous comment FUCK ALIENS I'd rather not meet them. Think about it if tomorow an alien species would visit us that would pretty much make ten more advance than us (in other words they could be potentialy more dangerous than us) and I that's the case what would stop them from thinking "hey we could take this planet for ourselves ez" and then who would stop them from doing so. No thank u I'd rather not see War of the Worlds or the Resitance series play out in real life because we all know that it won't end well. So with that I would like to finish by saying YES they EXIST but u better pray they never contact and/or visit us ok

Given that there are countless stars in the universe and even more planets, the possiblity of alien life is highly probable. But the chances of contacting alien life is extremely slim. I think that our sun will go super nova before we make first contact.

There're quite a billion years to go before our sun goes supernova, and if you think about how fast our technology has evolved in the last 100 years, i would say that there's a quite good chance that we will have made contact with an alien lifeform before then.

That's exactly as I see it. Except with a bit more added thought. In there being some planets that posses life forms that are in a "lower stage" (if you must call it) of intelligence or are less advanced than we are, while there are other planets containing life forms far more advanced than we are.

I don't know, the universe is a big place is all I'm saying. I'm just a pessimist so theres no need to take what I said to heart half the time. For all I know we could have already have made first contact and everything is like in Men In Black.

I know it's a big universe, but I just don't think it possible. Maybe I'm just not thinking outside the box, or maybe just 'cause I'm thinking of the generic aliens that's been shown to us seem so cheesy that I can't fathom a real honest to god alien...

I use to fully believe but there hasn't been any 100% full proof that they exist. I been starting to lost hope.

im pretty sure there is life form out there and lets pray to god they don't find us or don't intend to take action even if they find us. If they can travel through galaxies im pretty sure they can wipe us out with a push of a button. And im pretty sure even tough they come in peace, we humans would make sure they go back in pieces.. coz yea like most of us said, we humans are broken

I beleive some type of living beings exist out there (it's a huge place; I'm sure we're not alone down here), but I don't beleive the people claim they've seen UFOs in the sky at night. I mean, they could be right, but I'd need solid evidence.

oh, and my "living beings" I mean any type of living organism, even bacteria. there may not be any in our galazy (that we've found) but there are tons of other galaxies out there even bigger than ours. ^__^ someday we'll all meet. >w<
