I believe them since I've read too many von Däniken's books and watched too many Spielbers films but seriously:
100 billion glaxies, each has 100 billion stars each have thousands of planets and only one would have life? That is absurd, since then there would be no intelligent life in this universe... That would be mathematically impossible and too depressing...

Yes. Why? because it's simple really, why would there be a whole vast universe as the existing one we have right now for just one little earth with just us? sure there has got to be aliens out there! Just way to distant from us. Though I highly doubt they are in the form that we portray them in movies and T.V Shows. They might just be humans too... but what I believe is they are in different eras than us, there might be an older planet than our earth with a more advanced human/ alien race, while on the other hand there are newwer planets with less advanced humsn, that might be like people from the past (pioneers, cavemen) we may never know... that is just what I POSSIBLY believe how it could be...

People seem to keep tacking posts on here to agree with what the general thought here seems to be, that it is very unlikely that with so many stars and planets, only ours would support life. But it's nowhere near as common for folks to evaluate the odds that life would exist at all, anywhere in the universe. The exact conditions necessary for us to be alive here are extremely unlikely. So, mathematically speaking, taking the odds for life to exist at all and applying it to an area as large as the universe, you could say that even one planet supporting and nurturing life would be an astonishing result. If, in that experiment, TWO planets end up supporting life, I would consider it an anomaly and not expect it to occur in repeat experiments.
Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure this experiment is currently impossible.
I'd love to see it come to be, however. It could also serve to disprove any "intelligent design" ideas people might still hold at the time.

I agree with Prowl there's greater chance that their human not like the ones we see in the movies
But for now we know nothing of if there's aliens or not so all we have to do is wait for the answer in the future which I doubt it will be in our lifetime

It's because the post was in purple, wasn't it?
Putting aside what I posted previously, and saying there were aliens, there is no reason to think they evolved along the same lines humans did and look anything like us.

There's no possible way that in the unfathomable MONSTROUS SIZE of the universe that we're the only beings with our level of intelligence. Aliens on earth? Doubtful. Roswell, New Mexico is near a military test site for prototype and experimental technologies - naturally there were bound to be failures, and when the government does a shoddy job of covering it up... Well, we all have imaginations. And honestly, how can we tell what they would look like? Maybe they have 36 heads, and large amounts of tentacles. Who knows?
Yes, I believe aliens exist. Perhaps not in our solar system, but within our galaxy? I'd put money on it.

Are we alone? The chance that we are might not be as small as one might think. Lets take our little blue 3rd rock from the sun....EARTH /gasp
OK, we all know that bout 3 billion yrs ago earth was created, and it took 3 billion years for humans to arrive....but lets return to the beginning, theoligists believe that the earth experienced a collition of some sorts with something huge, big chunks of rock and dust blew into space, over a long period of time, the dust and rock formed our moon as we know it, elbeit a bit closer, and less riddled with craters...over time, the earth cooled down from its molten rock of hell state and oceans and land masses were formed, life started to emerge..so now we see earth as a new planet, with life at the beginning, what we dont know is whats going on around us, keeping things alive...if you think about it, life on earth only exists because we are just, and i mean JUST the right distance from the sun, any closer and we'd fry, and further and we'd freeze, we are with in a perfect distance to support life...now, look at our moon, its riddled with craters, thats cause out moon acts as our shield, and on top of that, its the moon which also pretty much governs our weather, in is all and mighty mysterious ways (not gona go into to much detail for fear of brains melting ^_^*)...lets look further out, remember that big gas giant of a planet, u know Jupiter, well, there is another shield, a couple of years back jupiter saved our asses from being blown to kindom come by a whole barrage of meteors...there are numerious things i could name, but lets look a bit closer to home, life is growing, and so life starts to evolve, and eventually after the extinction of the dino pack and the freezing of everything,<insert>,finally humans arrive....now u might be thinking, were is this going, well, i believe in live out there, how ever, its hard to believe that life our there will be anything more than small bugs, aka bacteria, in the creation og complex life, aka humans, there is just to many things involved to make it happen, we are rare, we might be the only inteligent life out there, but we aint the only life out there....THE END

+rep for the rational approach, man.
still tired of people saying odds favor the existence of intelligent life outside of Earth...

You know a professor told me this in psychology class years ago. People who generally believe in aliens or UFO tend to be left handed, and has an occupation related to drawing. I find that is is kind of funny how these things could be directed towards on group of people. Then again I choose not to believe anything until I see it with my own eyes. This is exactly like saying do you actually believe there is a higher existence, such as a god who created us all. Personally I do not really care. If your out there give me a signal. If your not, then a lot of people have watch to many sci-fi movies.

Universe is big, it is very hard to believe that earth is only planed that can sustain live.
So likely there are aliens somewhere out there.

There probably are aliens but they are so many light-years away from Earth that it is practically impossible to to reach this place without some highly advanced technology. On a side note I believe I saw an alien spaceship when I was little and went to kindergarten. There was an object at my zenith and it was rotating. It was very high up that from my point of view it was about 1/4 of an inch. It stayed in that one place for about 5 minutes and began to go higher thus getting smaller.
That is my UFO experience. I never really talk about it because it might seem strange to people, but you guys have no idea who I am and this is all anonymous.
