Can You Be Happy Without Money?

snipBut being that money originally came from barter and trading goods.
It's essentially the same thing; you trade your skills for my skills or I trade my chicken for your sack of potatoes.
In this society living happy and poor works if you're healthy but when you fall ill or suffer injuries it becomes problematic as you have to seek healthcare which in some cases costs money.

No single person can resist the feeling of getting more with what you have. Even if there isn't money, there would be bartering and soon it would involve real currency.
I have been in a family where money is everything. In my school, you can buy friends with money. They would follow you around, and you just got to treat them if not they would ignore you. That is why those poorer students are always social outcasts. Money is a kind of reward, no one would do a single thing for you if there was no reward given. That is human nature for you folks.

Well this question can be quite tough for many people.
I know a lot of people who think they can be happy without cash, I then ask them to lend me 5 bucks on a later day and they refuse.
I personally cannot live without money. These days money is essential to survive in a world like this. I (this is honest) use my money almost or if not only for my essentials. I'm quite frugal I'll admit. Without money, I don't think you would be reading my post by now.
So In conclusion, living WITH money would guarantee a much more happy life than the alternative.

I think money is important, even though I'm still a college student who doesn't work part-time and living with my family (asian family).
I buy my luxuries through my own savings. got to admit, saving half of my monthly allowance in advance and depositing it in the bank as soon as I get it is a bit difficult. Instead of being able to go party with friends during friday nights, I just go straight home or to the library. Oh well, what's a few sacrifice if I can get something I want.
I know how it feels buying an item that you want so much after earning it through hard work.
Sometimes, I just wanna say some things to rich people, being so arrogant,
bragging about their TOYS when in fact they're using their parents money.

there is this chinese saying "money cannot do everything, but without money you can't do anything"
I believe in this saying. I can say that i love money but i can also say that i'm happy as i am if i have enough money to live.
Money cannot buy happiness but without money there can be no happiness at all. That is how the world works. It constantly contradicts itself but continues it's ways nonetheless. Money will give you a peace of mind but too much money will give you worries likewise too little or no money at all will give you suffering.
So in the end we need money to be happy but there is no guarantee of happiness with money.

You can be happy and poor. It's just that it's more difficult, because most easy ways of reaching happiness (status, materialism, people looking up at you) are near impossible to follow. The remaining ways, for example love, are way more difficult to actually find, but, as a fortunate side effect, normally provide better happiness.
Of course, I'm young and don't have that much life experience, so my opinion isn't as valuable.

I agree money mean so much, it determines your station in life, who you meet, who are your friends, and more. but there are many people who says that falling in love is much more important than being rich.
Well, I don't really think I have the right to say much about this subject. since I've never fallen in love before, nor found myself lacking money...

they say money can't buy happiness but when I have to work for my money for tons of hours, nothing feels more empowering than blowing that pay checks on video games. when someone like a relative or something gives me money when I spend it I never feel as good as when I spend money I worked for. So i guess making money can make you feel better about yourself.Agreed.
i feel good making money by myself.
sometimes i just dont like waking up lol.

No, you cant buy happiness with money.
but, you need money to do everything else
bills(water, electricity, gas, rent)
food
you cant live without money
i find joy in going on the internet and watching my anime and reading my manga
money is required for internet, for electricity, for buying the computer
it's just impossible.

I guess the easiest way to put it is money is a part of happiness. It is used to acquire the things you need to live, thus making happiness easier to achieve. Its a lot easier to fall in love with a car and a house, for instance. I mean not many chicks will wanna go far with you if you're living at your mom's house and picked her up on a bike.

There are certain circumstances that need to be meet that you can be happy without money. I suggest to remove the system of currency, and have everyone turn nice and work for the greater good. Now, this will never happen.
Money is necessary to live a happy life. I'm just a city person. From what I've seen, you can't be happy unless you have money.
Of cousre there is always that tribal thing that people do but there is no way in hell people will go backwards.

Curious and Wondering
Sometimes, but not always. Sometimes money can buy some measure of happiness in material things for me, but I more often get happy with things that are priceless, such as spending time with my grandmother or sleeping on breezy afternoons in my self-made treehouse.

It's not all about money. You need talent there will be no such products without talent. Computer wouldn't exist with just money.

I'm a Socialist, what do you think my answer is?
Here are some words of wisdom:
"'Money doesn't buy happiness.' Do you live in America? Because it buys a waverunner." -Daniel Tosh
"So if money can't buy happiness, I guess I'll have to rent it." - "This is the Life," "Weird Al" Yankovic

A world without an established currency would be hell. We'd revert to bartering and end up even worse off because no one prduces their own things in high enough quantity to have some to trade and some to live off of.
Sure some people say money can't buy happines, but you see a whole lot more happy middle-class people than happy poor people.
