Should Prostitution be legal?

So, you do agree that these brothels aren't even safe in the first place, yet you've been arguing that legalizing would produce better results, no? It would just give them a chance to run away from the problem.
Condoms isn't recommended for staying safe from STDs. They're only recommended if you can't control your sexual desires. Condoms don't have 100% protection. Actually, some forms of STDs you get even IF you're wearing a condom because it can be in the genital area. STDs aren't just HIV.
Do you know what's recommended? Not having multiple sex hundreds of times with different people. I suppose you're recommendation and mine slightly differs. Am I wrong that what I state and what many others state is actually recommended from staying clear of STDs?
Don't forget that if it is legalized you can improve conditions. This is why we have groups such as O.S.H.A. and "workers rights". They exist to ensure that people have safe working conditions. You can report a brothel and be safe from repercussions. You can't report a pimp and expect to just "get away".
If conditions are poor you improve them. If something is broke you fix it.
You can't fix something that never worked in the first place. Obviously, these aren't the best working conditions.

I'm beginning to think you're one of those people that go around and tell people to not have sex because they'll get aids.
Have you even gotten laid?
Just keep in mind, those same infected people will have sex with people whether prostitution is legal or not. It's not like keeping it illegal will stop them from having sex. Your point is invalid.

Right, that's why we have Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) i.e. minimal wage, overtime, no child labor, and recordkeeping. Oh, we also have affirmative action too.
You know, we didn't always have that. Don't take what we have now for granted, a lot of things we have now are improvements from the past.

No, I was referring to brothels being improved on. I don't think prostitution and brothels are handled very well nor can be improved on at all, currently. I mean... they're ran by the worst people.
And...
What in the world does me having sex have to do with ANY of this? Even if I did or not, I wouldn't tell some random person on the net about my personal life.
I say it again since you missed it from my previous posts. I believe sex is fine and totally okay, but when it comes to STDs and incurable... blah blah. Get it? I'm not the one going around telling people they're going to get AIDs from sex. I'm starting to think that all you can do is bring up completely false crap about me and then try to throw it at me for a reasoning.
Well, since you can't be civil about it anymore, I'll just quit with my opinions then. Happy? They are afterall, my opinions. How much it matters to you... is up to you.

Obviously, these aren't the best working conditions.Yet, your ENTIRE argument is to maintain the status quo which obviously isn't working all because you fear S.T.D's will spread. You can't argue that prostitution needs to be stamped out either. Even in country's like Iran where the punishment for prostitution is death it still exists. At least I am proposing legalization so we can at least control the industry through laws and regulation instead of this anarchy in the streets which ties up funds to not only arrest both prostitutes and their clients but, also spent on incarcerating them. Tying up police department manpower in "vice squads" a.k.a. Decency Police. Leaving women to be abused without protection from the law, among all the other reasons I previously stated.
Edit: Zig, keep away from making this personal about anybody. His personal life has nothing to do with the discussion on hand. Also bringing it up doesn't add any merit to your argument. In fact, it undermines it.

Not all brothels are ran awful. You described it as a cheap hand job in the back room. If you look at good brothels like the Wild Horse they treat their girls very nicely. The girls get to pick their clients, the girls get the choice.
You go through the girls to get an appointment, not management.
There are plenty of ways to make new regulations for legalized prostitution. You just have it set in your head that it's dirty, and they treat all girls horribly - but are ignoring the fact at how much worse off girls are if it's illegal.
That's the very thing from the very beginning of this. We were trying to show you how awful illegal prostitution is towards women, and because a number of girls who you can count on your one hand complained at the treatment of some brothels, you think ALL brothels are pure evil.
Look up Wild Horse.
In fact, no: watch this:

I'll make my opinion short and sweet. I say do it. I mean look at prostitution as it is now. From all the women at the mercy of their pimps, police, the community they live in, std's,and most of all their customers they need legal protection. Remember;most of them didn't say they wanted to do this but life often push people to do things they want to do.
When legalized it could help decrease the spread of std's,the need for pimps(atleast the worst of the pimps),and also help the economy with the extra taxable income. I mean what can make it worst than how it is already?

Well... won't legalizing prostitution bring about a large problem? I'm sure at least 75% of men would have sex almost everyday if they could, so they would go to the prostitute PRETTTYYY often if they had the money of course. Also, a lot of men don't want to settle down in a family and would rather just satisfy their sex drives and be done with it. Therefore, won't the birth rate drop down massively?

I don't think we're anywhere close to becoming endangered.

That's true :P I find it amusing lol If prostitution is legalized, things like this will happen: Little girl says, " Mommy, when i grow up, I'm gonna be a PhD Prostitute! :D"

Well, I'm pretty sure this has all been said before, but if it were to be legalized, regulated, and taxed, wouldn't this loosen some money from the retardedly inflated prison system, cut down on violence, and, hopefully, put in a thorn in the side of the illegal sex slave trade?

Everything should be legalized (drugs, prostitution).
Then, it can be regulated properly and taxed.
There won't be a war on drugs anymore.
So, I give a big YES to prostitution. Think how much safer and better bachelor parties would be.
As George Carlin said, "Selling is legal, Fucking is legal. So why isn't selling fucking legal?"
That being said, there was a great Penn and Teller episode about prostitution.

The thing I don't like about prostitution is that there are tons of girls that will do it for free. And if I had sex with a prostitute it would prove just how lame I really am.
But if people want to spend money on I think it's cool and I think it should be legal. What shouldn't be legal is preordering and putting down money on something that doesn't exist yet. I bet today I could go to gamestop and preorder "Halo 4" if I put money down.

This is quite true, nearly any law creating a ban on a particular substance of possible abuse has or will create an illgeal market; just like prohibition.

I believe it should be banned or legalize the sex slave.
even though prostitution is oldest job there is. it should do as original purpose than other things.
(relieve the soldiers that is about to have mental break down)

Legalize it I say.
They could help students as a sex educator.
Maybe they should make that a curriculum. After the lecture, the actual exam, so they will know if the students are really learning.
Up the standards, make it a profession.
Must have a certificate or a license to be a prostitute.

Well, I can't say I totally agree to it, but I don't hate it.
Heck, even Jesus never said a thing about prostitution. He only found wrong on married women selling themselves. Look it up yourselves.
Better laws and regulations, health measures to prevent unwanted pregnancy and STDs, and better protection for the women are good things to add to make a better, safer sex trade.

Because some really are working for their college degree.

it ties in to this big conspiracy......yes you are right the porn industry is evergrowing and it providing for our struggling economy so I am at an impass an I pro legalization of prostitution but after deliberation I will not be phased either way so im neutral but if I must I would say no because it provides no revenue to the economy and I doubt people will put stocks in such a department
