I saw the 40 minute demo at quake-con... Seriously... the stupid guardian rock TURNS ME OFF right away.My first impression was... WOAAAAH COOOL YOU CAN BE ANY CLASS YOU WANT!?!?!
But... There is 3 fucking rocks.... Thief/Sneak Class, Mage Class, and Warrior Class.
One at a time, ugh... better than being stuck at once class for the rest of the game
Such a turn off... So... you get some kind of bonus for each rock?
You didn't understand them right those rocks are stat bonuses you can only have one on at a time. You dont have to use them at all if you dont want to.
Well thanks for pointing it out. Well... i preordered it, driving my ass early to pick it up. Lol

Been playing it since yesterday (much to the rage of the Xbox Live party I'm in XD)
I really like it. The lockpick system is the same as the fallout one (which is good because I could not figure out how that lockpick system worked in Oblivion)
The 3D overview map is awesome. I spend 15 minutes just messing around with the map.
the game still has it's glitches though. Had to restart a few times because the main quest suddenly froze and I was unable to finish the conversation required to continue.
Graphics are awesome to watch and I just find myself just strolling along the path just gazing at it's beauty
And if you're playing on console, install the game on the hard drive otherwise the game will have a lot of audio glitches

Also, I know what you mean about the isometric 3D map. There's a demo vid released a while back that I had to pause just to stare at the thing. Get any dragons yet? If so, how many times did it fuck you up?

It'll become bland eventually, but at least the game will still have shit for the player to do even after discovering everything and completing all the significant quests.

Hmm, hoping I'll scrounge up enough money to get this around Christmas. Would certainly be nice.
I can see it now... Skyrim non-stop until March when I get Mass Effect 3 and then I'll play that forever. By the time I'm done, I'll be so sick of video games I'll be ready for Q1 2013. <.

the only thing that fucks you up more then dragons are giants. one swipe and my body rag dolled into the stratosphere XD

Is it true that you can have a dog? Because if you can, I'll think of it as the ancestor of Dogmeat.

Just played it for a couple of hours (on PC).
Can't say is bad.
One thing I absolutely hate is that it is a blatant console port in terms of UI. Mouse is barely used for anything. No hotkeys either. Quite annoying.
Lockpicking system got switched to that of Fallout's. Imo a good change.
Character animations look MUCH better and fluid. 3rd person perspective is actually nice to play in.
I DO think that leveling and earning money early on is waaay too easy. I played like 2 hours, barely did anything and am at 3k gold and level 4. Not much in the grand scheme of things but still kind of odd. Then again, I played Oblivion with the reduced leveling speed mod.
Good impressions so far. More enjoyable than the previous ES games. Might consider buying this despite the atrocities Bethesda did to my region (on STEAM).

After listening to this a few times, I noticed that my dick is bigger and I have a chin full of beard. I dare say this is the manliest theme a game has ever had (or at least from what I have heard).

Well I never really got bored of fallout 3. I just ran out of things to do. If skyrim gives me infinite thins to do then I may very well play it infinitely. Or at least until the next elder scrolls game

Alright, I gotta share my excitement. They included controller functionality in Skyrim! In Oblivion, the control interface was different on pc and console so even if we rigged up a controller and mapped the buttons, it still didn't feel right. In Skyrim, just plug in a 360 controller and bam, the interface adapts and is ready without interruption.
Love it.
Love it.

I suppose I worded it wrong. I mean all the button icons on menus and such change to the controller button icons rather than "enter", "tab", etc.

Well, I'm watching Day[9] stream Skyrim atm and he seems to be using the mouse for a lot of things somehow. But that doesn't change the fact that the menus are a pure console leftover, which is sad.
