Been playing for about 11 hours and I'm very happy I bought this game. I'll admit the other thread almost turned me off, but I couldn't take it seriously and turns out it was exaggerated. Also, just making sure, you all know there is an option to set the default battle option to abilities instead of auto, right?
I heard someone (not here) bitch about how all you need to do is push one button in battles, and that worried me. Then it was clear they just mash the auto button. There is the full ability to chose your own moves and their order each 'turn', and it's easy to change it so abilities is selected instead of auto. It just frustrates me when people complain about a completely optional feature. I'm pretty active during battles choosing my own abilities, switching targets, launching my attacks early, switching up paradigms, looking for efficient strategies, and I'm having quite a lot of fun.
Anyway, I'm a good ways into chapter 5. Really enjoying the game and I really like the battles. One minor gripe so far is that I wish the crystalium was a little more complex and closer to the FFX system. I also wish there was a little more variety with the items. Those are just personal things though, and I don't want to criticize anything until I finish it.
Almost forgot, I love the way the characters interact. Walk up to someone and they talk to you. Your party members walk around and talk about what's going on instead just always following you. They speak to each other by name during battles. I love it.

I can't believe that guy was bitching about an optional feature. It's basically the game's easy mode as the AI does all the work for you. And later in the game it doesn't even do it well. Try auto-battle with some of the enemies and I know that you will be dieing a lot if you don't take advantage of the abilities and technique tabs to concentrate attacks. The only thing the auto-battle did in the beginning when we didn't have all the other options was select melee attacks over and over. Sure that's what you could do for an enemy, but when you have 5-15 of those frog things they're going to rape you if you use that and concentrate on one without attacks that do multidamage and element attacks.

From the interactions to things that are shiny have a 1 to 1 reflection of anything that moves over or on it. I love this game so much.
Just woke up and I am going to start playing again. I gotta catch up to you guys.

Lol Tsujou. Hope is a whiny lil bitch. I think he wants to beat Snows ass. (like Light hasn't done that already.
Also I hate controlling Hope. he dies so easily.
Also I finally got my code to work so hopefully I'll be able to beta test FF 14.
And Hopes name needs to be changed to whiny bitch

Just beat the third boss.
Edit: Also, I hate the bird enemies. They're so annoying because once they see you more than likely you will have to fight them.

You think that was hard? Wait until you get your 2nd summon

One other thing I'd like to know, does the game really take up over 10 gigs of space, and do you have to install it?

Fuck yeah! In your face Odin!
It took about 7 tries to figure out the best combo of paradigms, but it's definitely there and man was that a good feeling.
Edit: Whoops messed up on the explanation for one of Lightning's Paradigums. Fixed now.

Same here. I had to burn a couple phoenix downs thanks to those bombs.
I like how phoenix downs are scarce and makes you think before using them. Don't earn a whole lot of gil through battles so you gotta be cautious when using items. Although, since I've been getting better at switching paradigms, I haven't really needed to use items lately.

Woooo chapter 5 boss was hard.
[spoil] !st time I fought him I died. Then I started to refill my tp so I could summon. I gave up on that after 3 battles so I decided to do it like this. Make Light commando and Whiny bitch as Symtert thing (the one that cast protect and shell). Let him cast it on both of you then switch to Com/Rav. Then libra him twice. Then keep punding on him till he does that twirl thing. Then swtich to Com/Hlr. Let whiny bitch heal you and him until you are at full health. Then switch back to Com/Rav and keep pounding on him until you can stagger him. Then rinse and repeat.
